Question about HP LaserJet 3330MFP All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

HP LaserJet 3330MFP quit recieving & sending faxes

The fax machine has worked well, until a couple days ago. When a call is coming in, it show incoming call, then shows no fax received. When trying to send a fax, it shows no fax sent. I hear no dial tone, and see no error messages. Tried T.30 Protocol Trace which shows0.00 OFFHOOK, 6.49 CNG and 10.00 ONHOOK. No other information. A new fax machine works well on the dedicated line, so I believe the problem is in the fax machine. Any suggestions?

I had figured out that may be the problem, but not sure enough to order the part. I've even had it out. I just ordered it. I will let you know if that works.

    Thanks!

Thanks for suggesting the source for the L.I.U.; it was much cheaper than HP. I received it today, and replaced the old one. Still, it does not work.

If I watch the screen when it is receiving a fax, it first shows "Incoming Call", then says "No Fax Detected." I printed a Fax Activity Log, and it shows that each received call shows "No Fax Detected."

At this point, the only thing I can figure is that either I have the ribbon connector in wrong, or it is bad.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    It worked fine

Your Line Interface Unit (L.I.U.) is bad. The part # is C9138-60001. Google for part availability.
1 Open or remove the left side door.
2 Remove one screw at the left of the formatter board.
3 Disconnect the flat flexible cable from the connector.
4 Rotate the LIU around the hooks to remove.

It's about a 5 min job. Good Luck.

Are you running your phone line through a surge protector and is the line working? Check the cable, make sure the ribbon cable is installed correctly and completely. Was the part you bought new or was it a "pull"? There really isn't anything else it can be unless the replacement part is bad.

Your machine can print reports containing useful information. The following reports are available:
  • Phonebook List: This list shows all of the numbers currently stored in the machine's memory as Speed Dial and Group Dial numbers. You can print this phonebook list using the [Phonebook] button.
  • Sent Fax Repor: This report shows information of the faxes you recently sent.
  • Received Fax Report: This report shows information of the faxes you recently received.
  • System Data List: This list shows the status of the user-selectable options. You may print this list to confirm your changes after changing any settings.

  • Junk Fax Number List: This list shows up to 10 fax numbers specified as the junk fax numbers by using the Junk Fax Setup menu. When the Junk Fax Barrier feature is turned on, incoming faxes from those numbers will be blocked. This feature recognizes the last 6 digits of the fax number set as a remote fax machine’s ID.
  • Multi-Communication Report: This report is printed automatically after sending documents from more than one location.
  • Power Failure Report: This report is printed out automatically when power is restored after a power failure, if any data loss occurs due to the power failure.

NOTE: The lists you have set to automatically print out will not print out when there is no paper loaded or a paper jam has occurred.

Vertical lines on copies received

Run a copy of something through your machine. IF the lines show up on your copy, and also lines on your incoming faxes, then your drum cartridge is bad.
Replace the drum cartridge with a new one and you should be back in business.
