Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router

1 Answer

I can't unlock the Wep

I need to turn off my wep key on my linksys. But when I do, it unlocks for about a minite then locks again. I was trying to connect it on my wii. It wouldn't connect to the internet when it was unlocked. The reason why I locked the internet is because I found a guy on our internet. It was a shared playlist on iTunes. The reason why I wanted to unlock it was because It doesn't tell me the wep key. I got no idea what it was. So now I need to unlock it. I used to press and hold the orange button to unlock it. It would sometimes unlock it orjust change the ssid name.

If you know the solution, then please help me.

Thanks,
Ben.

Hi Ben

If unlocking by using web interface is not changing, that can be reason that NVRAM is not registering the new value. Best thing to perform reset. There is a pinlike tiny button behind the router you can firmly press and release it. It will set all the values to default including the security (security will be disabled). After that you may change the settings accordingly. If you need further assistance please post,

Good Luck

How do I unlock my router?? I want to add my ipod touch to my internet

If you have already setup your WEP key you would need to add that WEP key into you IPOD Touch settings.

Open up your IPOD Touch and click your Settings button. Touch your Wi-Fi option and turn on your Wi-Fi. Under Choose a Network you should see your SSID. When it ask you to put in your WEP Key just enter you key.

If you have not setup your WEP Key you need to open up a broswer and type in the following:

http://192.168.1.1

A screen will pop up requesting your user name and password. If you have changed your password place that in. If you have not changed the password then use the default admin. Leave the username blank.

Click on the Wireless Tab. Click on the sub tab Wireless Security. Set your WEP Key.

Hope that helps you!

Well, sounds like you have a wep or wap encryption on your network...Usually to fix it (if you don't know your wep or wap) just press the reset button on your router. This has happened to me before, and that is all i had to do.
