Question about HP PSC 1210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer causes reboot

I haven't had this problem before but I cannot plug in my usb cable with printer on or turn on the printer without the computer rebooting up to the windows sign-in page. As soon as windows starts it reboots again. The only way to stop this process is to shut off the printer. I have tried reinstalling the software, looking for updates and swapping out usb cables. I've also up-graded my BIOS. Also have not installed any new software that might cause a conflict.

Please help!

I removed everything to do with my printer including all bundled software and just installed the drivers only from hp.com. The crap that comes with your hardware does not need to be installed. The additional software they supply may contradict what's already loaded on your pc. I cannot use their twain drivers because I have them installed in a different program. I suggest doing a customized install rather than a typical install when putting any hardware and/or software on your computer.

Printer not responding

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Why won't my printer scan a document to my laptop?

Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your laptop. The software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you still haven't installed the software on your computer and you don't have the installation disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one.
If you were able to scan documents before using your Lexmark printer, it could be just a slight communication issue. Hi I have a new brother printer and it was working fine. I have gone to use it again and it keeps saying the printer is offline...yet I have registered again and everything is the same. Help

check that the printer cable is inserted fittingly, on the computer and on the printer, if alright, change the port from which the printer cable is connected,am assuming it is usb. if still not responding, turn off the printer, reboot the computer, and turn it on, if it fails, unplug the printer from the computer and uninstall the driver. reboot the computer and reinstall, while installing, it may prompt you to plug it in. if it does not, do not worry, just plug the printer cable after the installation is through, the computer should recognize a new device and go on to auto install, if it does not, then you have bad usb port port or controller drivers. to be certain, plug any other usb device onto the port(s), if positive, buy a new usb card and install on computer and connect printer

I have a Canon Pixma iP4200 printer which is causing my Acer Aspire T310-3970 PC to reboot when I turn the printer on. It keeps on rebooting until I switch the printer off. Any ideas?

If the computer does reebot immediately when you turn printer on, that is not aa software or setting problem , that is an hardware fault, and there is also risk to damage your computer.

Possible cause for the fault.

1 Faulty USB port on computer.

2 Defective USB cable.

3 Faulty control board on printer.

Things you can do:

Test a different USB cable.

Test the printer on a different USB port on computer.

If that does not work, the printer is sending a wrong voltage or data signal through the USB cable, tha printer can even work on a different computer, but there is always the risk to damage the computer.
