Question about Uniden GMR1058-2CK (7 Channels) 2-Way Radio

1 Answer

GMR1058 Problem I have a pair of the Uniden GMR1058 radios I bought about 2 years ago. We used them for a family trip, and they have been stored since. They both charge properly, but there is a problem. Pressing Tx on unit A will successfully make a connection with unit B. You can talk on Unit A and it is clearly heard on unit B. The problem is that trying to press the Tx button or call button on Unit B will not make a connection with Unit A. Hopefully I didn't make it too confusing. They are both set on the same channel. Thanks for your help

Where can I get a manual for my Uniden 2 way radios?

Which model of 2-way radio do you have? Uniden has some manuals on the product pages. Start here: for the list of consumer 2-way radios. I know that the manual for the GMR1636-2C is on the site. However, the manual for the GMR5099-2CKHS isn't yet available there. An easier to check list of manuals is here: . Retrevo has a few others listed here: . (Click on the model number to see the link. You will need to enter a code to access the file from that Download button.)

I hope this helps.

FRS440 CALL alert volume

Hi Duncan,

That is correct, you won't find any solution in the manual, because these are made with pre-set alert tones built-in.

The fact that they are second hand units, you've done well in that they work at all.

Uniden are a well known brand so that would explain the fact they just keep on going, slowly wearing out over time, so enjoy them for as long as they are kicking.

I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.

Regards, Peter

If you buy the same brand/model radio it will work perfectly as long as all the devices are on the same channel.
If you buy a set from another manufacturer make shore that they are compatible.

Replacement parts

Hello daemon10,

The current trend is for manufacturers to bundle consumer two-way radios in packs of two and four since most users do not purchase single radios. However, some models are available as single units and any 22 channel FRS/GMRS combo radio should be able to communicate with your Uniden radio.

If you definitely want to get the exact same model you might have to either purchase another two-pack or contact the manufacturer directly to see if they have single units available

Choosing the right frequencies for Uniden GMR1058-2CKB

Hello huko,

I see from your profile that you are in Bulgaria. Assuming that you are using the European PMR446 version of the Uniden radio in question, the channels / frequencies should be;

1 - 446.00625 MHz
2 - 446.01875 MHz
3 - 446.03125 MHz
4 - 446.04375 MHz
5 - 446.05625 MHz
6 - 446.06875 MHz
7 - 446.08125 MHz
8 - 446.09375 MHz
So, to operate on 446.09375 MHz you would chose channel 8.

If your radio has more then 8 channels, then you may have the U.S. version of the radio which operates on a different set of frequencies and does not have a channel that corresponds to 446.09375 MHz.

Two way radio cross model compatbility

Normally yes just as long as the frequency assignment to each channels are the same and no security/locking (such as (CTSS) is in place.

You have to check if the frequency settings of the Motorola matches those of the uniden.

Good luck and kind regards.
