You MUST somehow get hold of a suitable CD/DVD. You could download one from the net. or Borrow one from a friend, or buy a new one.

You don't need the password then. Insert disc and erase away. Make sure save Administrator so you don' have to format again.

Check system then press f1 key

Try this:

Instructions
    • 1

Insert the Toshiba A60 recovery disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    • 2

Power off the Toshiba (with the recovery disc still loaded inside the optical drive).

    • 3 Hold down the "F12" key, at the same time hit the "Power" button to turn the system back on. You don't have to hold down the Power button, but keep holding the F12 key.
    • 4

Release the "F12" key when the" In Touch with Tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen is displayed. This will open up the BIOS.

    • 5

Change the boot order by using the arrow keys to select "CD/DVD ROM" icon in the menu. The Toshiba will now boot from the recovery disc and restore the system. Follow any additional on-screen instructions.

Nothing from my desktop shows up when I turned my lap top on. When I last shut down - I don't think I shut it down right. Got the spinning beach ball. Nothing is working now

Check for a failing hard drive
Trying booting from the Mac OS X install disc. insert the Mac OS X install disc. press the start button, while holding down the "C" key on the keyboard
Once you are running from the disc. go to Disk Utilities select the hard drive click the "repair permissions" button at the bottom.
If you get any red errors listed or it doesn't seem to finish repairing the permissions you have a failing hard drive and it will need to be replaced.
If you don't get errors you then need to reinstall your operating system.

I cant login

You only need one trick. You need the installation disc for this level of laptop, ...OSX 10.4 .5 .6. Doesn't matter. Just long enough to insert the right level disc, shut down and then press power on button. The second you do that, hold down on the C key on the keyboard. This forces a disc start....when you're there, pick any password you want.

Reboot powerbook g4 17 inch without password

Use the install discs that came with the machine. Insert the disc 1, shut down the machine, turn it back on and press and hold the option key until the DVD icon shows. Then click on the icon and then click on the right arrow. When the disc boots you need to go to the top and find the disc utility folder. Then select reset password. Then choose restart.

Cd Drive in Mac iBook 4 is malfunctioning. Disc will not mount.

Shut the machine down. Find the original CD or a retail OS X installation DVD. Start the machine up and immediately hold down the option key. You will see a icon of your hard drive. Now insert the CD or DVD. If it immediately spits out, your optical drive needs replacement. If it does not, click on the U-shaped arrow button to rescan the drives. If the CD/DVD does not show up, your optical drive needs replacement. If it does, choose it and boot from it. If this actually works, you may have a software problem -- this is low probability, but possible.
Keep in mind that the CD and DVD read heads are separate. If one of those is malfunctioning, your drive will accept CDs but not DVDs, or vice versa. If you see this behavior, your optical drive needs replacement.

I've lost the base drivers for my vaio ar630e during the installation of windows 7 rc. Need help with restoring it back!!!!

If you have a windows disc that came with the system, insert the disc while the computer is on. Shut the computer down. Turn computer back on. Your computer should boot to the disc. Delete partitions. Format the hard drive. And reinstall.
If you do not have a windows disc contact sony to purchase a recovery disc.

Computer will not shut down

You can try the Ctl-Alt Del keys to see if you can get the task manager to come up. If you can then try to shut down using that. If not then the only choice you really have is to manually power down and restart. Chances are pretty good Windows will clean up after itself and should boot backup. During the process if you receive any error messages or warnings document them. Windows may also prompt you for a hard drive scan, let it.
