You may want to check the power save or screen saver settings first, to ensure that's not the issue. is it the whole computer or just the monitor?

I want to get my computer to how it was when i first got it. how do i do that ?

Hi there, If you wish to restore your laptop to its factory defaults you will need to follow the steps listed bellow.
  • Make sure the computer is turned off ("Shut-down" from the Windows Start menu)
  • Remove any peripherals such an external mouse, keyboard, monitor, USB flash drive etc.
  • Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in and working.
  • Press and hold down the 0 (zero) key on the keyboard while powering on the computer. Release it when the recovery warning screen appears.
  • If the recovery process offers a choice of Operating Systems, select the appropriate one for you.
  • A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and rewritten.
  • Click Yes to continue.
  • When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens select "Recovery of Factory Software" or the appropriate option for your needs.
  • Continue to follow the directions restarting as necessary.

  • Hope it helps,

How can i restore a toshiba satellite a 135 to factory settings without a recovery disk

    Hi,

To reinstall your laptop to the factory settings / "out of the box" settings, please follow these steps. It worked for me, and should work for you.

ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED ON YOUR HARD DRIVE IF YOU PROCEED. YOU WILL NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THE POWER ADAPTER PLUGGED IN. DO NOT SWITCH OFF OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER DURING THIS PROCESS.

    * 1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.

Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.

    * 2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.
    * 3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.
    * 4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.
    * 5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
    * 6) Select Recover to out-of-box state. Click Next again.
    * 7) Click Next to Start recovery.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Wifi switch is turned on however, when i try to search for a wireless network i get a message saying that i need to turn on my wireless switch

So I understand that your wifi card doesn't work?If that is correct go to Toshiba site and check their support-from the other computer-of course. If card is dead, you will need usb wifi.

Hi i can't switch on my girlfriends Toshiba

Hi, first things i would try is to switch it off all togther, remove the battery and power lead and leave it sit for 10 - 20 minutes to let any residual power drain from it.

once you have done this just plug the power supply back in without the battery and try to switch it on, if it works ok, plug the battery in and see what happens if it fails to start up after this its most likely the battery is at fault.

if it will not start up just on the power adaptor then there is likely to be a hardware fault with the laptop itself that may need someone with some computer repair experience to fix for you.

    hope this help.s

    System warning pop-up

Are you sure that nothing is overheating? If your cpu fan is turning too slow it won't disipate the heat. Do you have a program showing cpu temp:? I would take the access off the bottom and make sure the cpu fan is clean. If that is not the problem I believe you can turn the warnings off in the bios settings
