Maytag Gemini Electric stove fault code F 1-2 when using the oven(s)

Lately when using our Maytag Gemini top or bottom oven(s) it will intermittently interrupt the cooking cycle and start beeping with an F 1-2 code. This interrupts the operations of the oven and occurs either when warming up or when it is first turned off.  It takes several cancels to make it finally stop and then it may work fine for several cooking periods before happening again. (Last night I had to cut to power off to make it stop.) Any ideas what is wrong?  Everything else seems to be fine.

I Have the same problem, but the inf. center show F1-8

    I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM

  • dlagolden1 Feb 16, 2009

I have this same problem also. Had a repairman come out and he replaced the heating sensor for the bottom oven. Used the oven today and bottom oven wouldn't heat above 250-300 degrees. When I turned on the top oven to use the broiler the top oven wouldn't work at all and I again got the F 1-2 error message. However, once I turned the lights to both ovens on, they decided to work (as long as the lights were on). Obvoiusly it wasn't the heating sensor that was the problem. Please help........

I also have the F1-2 error code. It started to happen occansionally but now occurs regularly. What part(s) should be replaced

We (Cypress Christian School) have a Maytag Gemini electric oven that beeped F1-L message last week. We haven't used it since then. It is only used to keep food warm until served to students. The manual says this is a "sensor". The oven is 8 years old - what do we do to check this out? I don't want to hire a repair technician spending >$300 when there is something more simple that can solve this problem.

I own the magtag gemini model MER 6770 AAW serial number 14882525YB the message I am getting from the panel is F 1-2 then it beeps until I cancel then sometimes it returns beeping. Sometimes the top oven cooks fine but if I try to cook with both ovens going it goes all crazy with beeps and shuts off and sometimes won't go over 100 degrees in both ovens. I am a very handy person and if someone can tell me how and what to replace I know I could do it. The repair center said it could be $300 plus to repair. My stove is 8 years old and I paid around $1300 for it I can't afford to replace it. HELP if it is out there otherwise I guess I will have to pay to repair it still cheaper then buying a new one...

Junk it! I have the same problem, spent $345 on new breakers on the electrical box (service tech said that was the problem) spent another $175 on another service call for the oven senser. The tech said if this doesn't work, you need a new board at $518. Enough with Sears and their expensive junk.

Put in a new thermastat in the top oven and it works great. Thanks for the advice(from other's having problems).
My Maytag was older than I thought, so the thermastat was not available on line, but found one at a repair shop that worked. Thanks!

Maytag Gemini Stove Code F1-4 (bottom door won't open)

F-1 error is a Temperature Runaway. It Maytag's way of letting you know that oven overheated. Nothing you have done but it may have shorted out the oven sensor or the keypad. Check the sensor and see if it's closed. If it's okay, replace the keypad.

Maytag Gemini MER6772 keypad/ovens not working

I had same problem, error code F 1-8, shorted keypad. I was so frustrated I went ahead and tore it apart. There was a surprising amount of gunk and moisture between the plastic face and the actual contacts. I cleaned it up and let it dry out. It worked OK for a while, but the seal is not good, and moisture from baking is still getting into it. When it goes bad again, I'm going to take off the plastic face and just press the sensors with a pencil eraser. I'll probably replace the range within the year. No way I'm paying $385 for new pad + installation on 10 year old stove.

MER6770 Fault Code

No. just the one sensor part number 12001656. After paying a maytag repairman twice, I will now for the third time replace it myself, google the part number and you will see the different companies that sell it. Price runs up to 40.00, next time buy a different product and hope that Maytag goes out of business!!!! I know I will!!!

Maytag Gemini Electric stove fault code F 1-2 when using the oven(s)

The oven temp sensor has gone bad.  F1-2 would be for the lower oven and F1-1 would mean the upper oven.  If you give me the model # from the sticker on the oven I can direct you to a diagram, part #, and price.  These are very easy to replace.  Should be located inside the oven in the upper right or left hand side.  It looks like a silver rod about 4-8 inches long and crimped on the end.  Most of them can be removed from inside the oven by removing the two screws, pull out the sensor (harness and all) plug in the new sensor, put the screws back in and your done.  Some have to be removed from the back of the oven by removing the lower, larger back panel and follow the same process as mentioned above.  Hope this helps.
