Question about Envision H170L Monitor

H 170 L-17" monitor

My H 170 L monitor is showing a blank screen. This happend yesterday, checked all connections ,unplugged & replugged, it seemed to work at the time, but now today it's doing the same thing. My husband did the same steps today to fix problem, but it's not responding?

    I've been having the same problem. Every few hours or minutes, (it varies a lot) the screen will shut off and and flicker on for just a moment and I see a quick wave image go up my screen or just a quick light flash. I unplug the power from the back, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. While this usually fixes the problem, sometimes I have to do this a few times. Also, at times it does it over and over again and other times just once every hour or so.

If *nothing* displays on your screen, the most likely problem is your LCD Backlight Power inverter. If the backlight power inverter is bad, you can usually see some remnants of an image on the screen if you shine a light on it. If the backlight power inverter is bad, it may not be worth repairing on a 17" screen, considering the low cost for a new one.

It should be noted that Envision provides a 3-yr warranty for most LCDs, so contacting them for repair may be a good option. More information here:

Monitor goes blank.


Did you swap the monitors to see if the problem follows or stays at the same video output port since you have dual monitors set up? Need verify before opening up the monitor.

When I rebooted my computer, the monitor stayed blank. Do they just die?


Power off and unplug and make sure the cord from monitor to cpu is firmly connected or unplug and then replug the monitor cord. Also make sure the monitor power light is on.

Monitor will not stay on


HOw about the light on the tower? if its stedy green then the tower is ok then run a self test on monitor if it passes the monitor is also ok then unplug the power cable from the monitor and data cable also and press and hold the power button for 10 sec and then connect the monitor to the system

Monitor wont turn on, just green flashing light.


double check that all yor connections are tight. Open your PC case (unplug it) and ensure that all your fans are clean. It appears that your problem is due to loose cable connections, but this may be a good time to do some computer spring cleaning.

Monitor goes Black off and on .....


I had the same problem for about a week and solved it yesterday by downloading the latest driver by NVDIA who makes my video card (NVDIA GeForce 6200).
I had previously updated the latest Sony driver for the monitor. It did not solve the problem but could be part of the solution in conjunction with the new video card driver.

LCD Monitor Goes Black during Use


I had the problem sometimes, but then I connected a second computer to the analog input and found out, that the screen didnt turn black but switches between the inputs on an on.

I found out that the "input" button seems to be short or damaged, as the behaviour was invertable by pressing the button. I blew into the button some times (a very naive solution, yeah) but it worked, the switching stoppped.

Blank Screen


ccfl ( cold cathode flouroscent lamp ) is the backlit feature of the lcd panel. If you see a blank screen but do see the output on the external monitor then you sure have to take it to the hardware tech to get the inbuilt LCD panel checked. it seems to be a electronic failure. Thanks Ashish.
