Set a security password

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to make your connection secure by using a password you need to access the router settings page and change the security type. Follow the instruction below on how to make the connection secure.

If you want to setup a password or security on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to Wireless Settings and under Wireless Security Mode select either WEP, WPA, WPA2 then create a personalize Passphrase. Passphrase serves as the password on the network to make it secure.

Login to the routers home page (details under neath or behind the router). Once you login, go to wireless--> settings or wireless security page and then choose WPA2 or WPA PSK and enter the password and save the changes. After save, you will need to re-establish the connection to your laptop and you will be prompted for a password on the computer.

You need to configure your router with below method. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then set WAN settings as internet service provider settings enable DHCP. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. How to secure the wireless network

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

You can set up the router without the CD also.
If you connect the computer to the modem it works, right ?
Now you can connect the computer to the router and the modem to the rotuer . Access the router set up and set up the router.

You will have to do a hard reset on the machine and reprogram it with any settings you had previously. This will wipe all your settings out, so make sure that you dont' have any static or port settings you will need.
Look on the back for a little tiny hole, it will say reset. You will need a paper clip for this part. Hold down the reset button for about 30seconds. You might have to unplug it from the power after this for it to refresh.
Open your browser and got to 192.168.0.1(I beleive this is the ip of this router) and type admin for the user name and leave the password blank.

For that first connect your router to computer with ethernet cable.
Then access it with following link.

or
http://192.168.0.1
type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
then configure your router as WEP.
Then go to wi fi security and set WEP key it is your password to connect your internet . Enable DHCP . Also check in wi fi that wireless is enabled. Check WAN settings and set it to your internet service provider settings like DNS .
