Memory card needs formattting error

I have a Kodak DX4530 digital camera. Thus far have had no trouble until today.I took a picture this morning and later turned on the camera to view picture and got the message memory card needs formatting which I do not want o do because I have pics I do not want to lose on card! I can't review pics or transfer to computer! Help!!!
