I have the same problem with my W3502. I installed a new power supply, reinstalled windows xp, etc, etc.. Sometimes it goes a day or two but when it starts acting up (shut down, start up, shut down, startup,,,) I just power down for a day or two.

Well, you are right the power supply is good. But the power isn't enough to support your system. My advise, you have to change your power supply to "real power type". The price is more than the normal type even if it is the sama rating.

Emachines power supplies are notorious for being cheap and unreliable. You can pick up a new one that will most likely solve your problem for not too much cash. This one would work fine:

First test your CPU then tast all leads that are attached to your hard drive sounds like a faulty lead of some sorts then
try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
good luck

Problem booting into Windows.

Hi,
This could be a hard drive problem. The hard drive is looking for the boot sector on it, but the boot sector is broken. Computer shuts down and tries again but your hard drive can't find the boot sector so it shuts down tries again etc.

When the windows xp screen is finished loading, computer restarts

You should try loading into 'safe mode' o see if that works. If that works then the problem is in the OS and probably a load file during startup. either a driver or setting that is conflicting. Either way something is wrong with the configuration. Yo may have a virus which is conflicting with one of the legit programs in memory.

If you're reasonably advanced user you can try and download HIRENS Boot Disc and boot into Linux and run a complete Virus scan from there. It will remove any virus's and you can use CC Cleaner to correct registry problems completely outside the OS.

If you don't know how to do any of that then I suggest taking it to a PC shop as well. If the data is important then they will be able to retrieve it and start again.

Pc shuts down during windows xp install

Hi!

Easy problem to solve my freind:)
Do like this, start the installation as you did before, when your pc restarts, get in to bios again and change the first boot from cd/dvd to the HDD. That will solve your instalation problem:)

Good luck to you

System wont work with new Mptherbard

Boot into the BIOS and look at the settings. Is the correct hard drive selected as the boot device? Are the IDE settings correct? Does it have an SATA or PATA hard drive?

When you change motherboards it's a good idea to write down the BIOS settings of the old board before you remove it. Probably too late for that now.
