Question about Technics SL-MC6 CD Player

1 Answer

Disconnected wire I have a Technics 110+1 SL-MC-6 cd changer. I was moving the unit and all the c'ds fell back into the unit. I took off the top cover and was able to remove the cd's but a thin wire, (almost looks like picture wire) has come loose it runs behind where the cd's sit in the rack. It is still connected on both sides except now it is slack. It must connect elsewhere I just can not figure out where. Any ideas?

Ha, you are stuffed.
Actually this wire runs down the side and across the bottom of the CD player cage and back up the other side.
On the way it runs round the front cover release sensor and leaver.

You would probably need to look inside another one to get it right.
Buy a used one one off ebay and copy the path of the wire.
Then you have two working ones.

Where can I have the unit repaired. It is stuck in search mode.

might be just a broken drive belt - pretty common on these units. Take the cover off and look at the top of the cd mechanism for the belt.

Changer states checking disk, error

Possible broken drive belt, that's what caused the same error on my unit. Very easy to replace, just take off the top cover and the motor and belt are readily accessible.

Tech SL-MC410. Continously displays "Checking Disc"

When the unit is saying "Checking discs" and neither goes further nor turns off (just says "Off" but doesn't), the reason is still the main belt (accessible from the top as soon as you lift the cover) that is too loose. When the belt is way too loose, the unit doesn't move at all, if the belt is little too loose, the player-unit will move a bit, but there is not enough torque on the gears to reach the end position (where the player unit is secured against movements).
