-   WATCH THIS SPACE, AS SAMSUNG UK ARE AWARE OF THIS NOW, INCLUDING THIS PAGE.
I HAVE A SAMSUNG D860 WITH BRAND NEW SANDISK 2GB SD CARD, AND THE IMAGE ATTRIBUTES SECTION OF THE EMBEDDED INFORMATION BECOMES CORRUPTED FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON.
IT'S NOT ALWAYS THE SAME IMAGE IN SEQUENCE, OR WHEN CAPTURING NEW IMAGES. IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU VIEW PREVIOUSLY WORKING IMAGES.
SAMSUNG MASTER 1.0 SOFTWARE CAN GIVE A PREVIEW, BUT THE IMAGES CANNOT BE EDITED OR PRINTED-   graham-s-sk

I have two S760 also having the 'file error' on just some shots Like graham-s-sk new sandisk 2gb and when downloaded the file is there but the attributes are currupted. Talked to Samsung who said the sd card should be formatted on the camera and not to rely on the Sandisk formatting. Have tried this and taken 100 test shots - so far so good!

I returnd my d860, and got the samsung s860 as a replacement. they are basically the same. I had a few problems at first, and with the computer and camera connected, used windows to format. I have noticed that sometimes when first switched on, the camera will advise the batteries need replaced, and then go on to show two of the three battery level bars. This seems to be when corruption occurs. Open the battery compartment without switching off, or just replace if you've got spare rechargeables ready. Even if I just then close the battery compartment with the same ones, it will switch back on showing full charge, but I haven't taken a lot of pictures in one session doing this. I messed with video mode once and flattened the bateries, leaving one corrupt file. If you can, download your pictures and reformat the card regularly, and watch out for the battery warning. Happy snapping!

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC700. I started having this problem when I bought a new memory stick pro duo (presumably fake). Random pictures would have this file error message on a blue screen, and cannot be read by Windows Picture Viewer when I upload it to my PC.

Whenever i take snaps; few of them show "file error" in a blue screen! Can anybody help me?

Took pics.  Nothing on the camera.  Just "file error."  Have had the camera for over a year.  No problems prior to this.  Grrrr.

I took some pics the other night and when I looked at them on my camera they were fine. A couple of hours later, about 6 of the pictures went pixilated when I viewed them on my camera, then the screen went blank and said 'file error'. I tried uploading them to my computer, but it won't let me view them properly. I know they're there, as I have pixilated previews on my PC and camera.

Same thing. Keep getting file error, now can't upload or view pictures. Is it the camera or the card? Thought it was the card but the same thing happens when I plug in with the cable. Help!

I keep getting more and more 'file error' and some of my best pictures have been automatically deleted. What do I do ?
I have no idea how to resolve the problem

Comment by bukor, posted on Jul 07, 2008

I noticed, that if i have a 4GB card on my Samsung S1050, the photos, that are taken above the cca 2GB, are corrupted and they are somehow overwriting the content of the previous photos, leading to "file error" message on the LCD. So some of the photos are corrupted from my vacation. At home, at the computer i tried some recovery tools with some luck, but still some photos get lost. I tried to get some new firmware for my camera, but with no luck...
Have any idea how to solve this (or just using max 2GB cards) ?

When you plug camera into computer and windows starts all of the pictures have red "X's" over the pictures. No pictures will show up!
