Question about iRiver H10 MP3 Player

IRiver H10 MP3 Jukebox

Hi folks:

I have an iRiver H10 Jukebox which is dead. I unfortunately did not back up my music on my current computer, but did so on a computer I no longer have. I've contacted iRiver and was told to "call back in 6 months when they MAY have a contract in place with a repair company". I just want the music off of the MP3 player and safely on my laptop. The Jukebox can be trashed after that(never to buy from iRiver again).

Any ideas how I can retrieve my music off of this MP3 player.

Thanks for any and all help.

Barbara

Hi,

You of course can try doing a Google for free file recovery program that would work with the iRiver. I would suggest you try GetDataBack . Download the trial copy and see what it'll find, if and when it detects your musicfiles, buy the full version to get them. Or continue using the trial and do recovery a few files at a time.

Another you can try is Stellar Phoenix Windows Data recovery Software. Download the trial copy and see what it'll find, see if it will work for your iRiver.

Should all else fails, you can also try a firmware upgrade for the iRivers. When run, it detects the iRiver as an external drive in Windows. Filename is "H10 5G/5G Pure/6G Firmware Upgrader/Recovery Tool". After formating, run any of the file recovery software again. There is a 50-50 chance of recovery or all of the iRiver's content will be deleted since it will re-format the entire unit.

Should everything work to your satisfaction, then perhaps you can upgrade the firmware to V2.51 to hopefully prevent recurrence of the same.

If your concern has not been addressed after completion of the above procedures, you may need to seek the services of file recovery firms.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, i want to use my new apple computer to keep up with my music on my iriver. do you know of any programs that might allow me to do this? i would hate to give my iriver, its so much better than ipod!

Two options and either way you can use drag and drop to add music: I believe Rockbox works with macs - also there is a version of easy H10 for mac.

If you keep the orignal firmware, easy h10 will build the database for you.

Files in Iriver H10 not appearing in music.

try this...

connect your h10 to the pc using the ums trick with the usb connection..
For 20 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Poke the "reset" button with a paperclip.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "Emergency Connection" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
download and run EASYh10 software (free playlist maker). It will scan the files in your music folder and build/save a playlist to your h10.
disconnect player and give it a try...

Iriver, H10 , system files missing

iRiver H10 - Missing System Files
You must be connected to the internet for this to work: 1.Download the MTP Firm Updater Utility from iriver website - iriverinc.com/support (Audio Jukebox --> H10) 2. Unzip file, run .exe file, go thorugh wizard (if you are not in mass storage mode, it will give you instructions on the wizard on how to change this) 3. Select Recovery 4. Finish going through wizard 5. disconnect iRiver from computer, and wait for it to update - your player should be good.
If the problem happens again, then uninstall Windows Media Player 11 from your computer and rollback to Windows Media Player 10 (you will NOT lose any songs by doing so).
Good luck!

Delete music H10 iriver

Sorry, but the built-in firmware only allows you to do that by plugging it into your computer as a removable device. Pull the battery of the player (or press the reset button), plug it into your computer, and press and hold the OK button as you turn it on. This will cause the computer to recognize it as an external drive, and you can therefore delete music from it by accessing it through My Computer.
