Fridge is freezing things

My fridge is freezing things and the dial is turned to the warmest setting? My friend suggested that the thermometer may be blocked and that's why it's overcompensating but I doubt that's the case because my fridge isn't very full and nothings that close to the back right now.

You may have a defective temperature control. How old is the unit? Or you may have a defective thermostat.

Freezer and fridge at 7 setting. can't change to lower setting. What is wrong?

If it is the same temperature as verified with a thermometer, first thing in the morning, at settings 1, 5, and 7, then the thermostat or the thermistor (temperature sensor) has failed. The ideal temperature for a home fridge is 4'C.

There are puzzles though, is 7 the coldest, or is 7 the warmest. Are you increasing the cold, or reducing the cold by setting it at 7? The manual is the only sure-fire way to tell, or sometimes they pot 'Coldest' on the dial. Google is your friend in such cases;

Milk and veggies in the fridge are freezing. We have turned the control to the warmest, but things are still freezing. Thoughts?

Make sure the damper at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment is close. If not, close it but not all the way. A small flow of cold air from freezer will be necessary to maintain a temperature of at least 40 degrees in the refrigerator compartment.Adjust damper as needed and use a thermometer to measure temperature over a period of time.

A block of ice forms on inside on the back of the fridge,temperature gauge set at 5,do i have correct temperature setting,cheers stuart.

1 is the warmest 5 the coldest,so you are overcooling your veg etc,use a fridge thermometer and run it at +5c.this is the most economical setting,and will keep your lettuce fresh not frozen.

If your veg is freezing you need to RAISE the temp in the fridge,if #7 is coldest,then #1 is warmest.SET IT TO #3.You should keep a fridge at +5C for best storage of CHILLED food.you should also adjust your fridge for summer and winter ambient temperatures.a fridge/FREEZER thermometer is ESSENTIAL.OTHERWISE YOUR WASTING MONEY/ENERGY.

Fridge too cold

First, clean it the unit out and fully defrost.  Clean the condenser coils.  Don't pack in so much food, don't open the door too frequently.  Never block any air channels. Never leave uncapped liquids in the fridge or freezer.  Set the fridge at about 40 degrees...use an outdoor thermometer.  Freezer at about 0-5F.
