Question about Onkyo TX-SR605 Receiver

Usa to uk

I have just purchased the tx605 from usa. When I changed the plug to uk the amp stand by light came on but would not switch off. I bought a 110v transformer to 240v and the same thing is happening. Does it matter that it is a 120v connection on the amp ? Can someone please advise as this cost me a lot of money, what is the solution please help.

Thanks for the help, but the one I have doesn't have a voltage selector, I think it's north American. I purchased a trnsformer and changed the fuse inside on the circuit board, and all is good now.

    Thanks again

Hi mick

the unit has a voltage selector switch on the rear. Have you selected the 220v option. this will solve your need for a reduction transformer. If you have just gone ahead and fired it up in 110volt settings.... internal damage may have already occurred.

What is the switch set to now? Let me know

Looking for manual for pioneer sw200 powered subwoofer

Most subwoofer have a left and right phono/RCA sockets. The amp should have a sub out phono/RCA plug. The sub should have come with a phono/RCA lead that will connect these - one plug to two plugs.
Apart from the mains plug that's all there is really. You may have to switch the sub socket on the amp on.

Or you can get one of the cables from places like below:

Unit does not reset

Sounds like it it going in to protect mode. Very likely to have a bad output transistor(s). If discrete outputs are used in your receiver they are the larger components mounted to the heat sink. Sometimes only one transistor shorts other times many transistors, diodes, resistors and capacitors go bad. Take it to a service tech if you or no one that you know has some level of amp repair knowledge. Good luck!

Can i buy a 3d blue ray samsung dvd player and plug my HT-TZ315 unit speakers to it?

No. A stand-alone 3d player will not have an amp in it to power the speakers. You would be better off purchasing a new 3d surround system.

Hi. I bought a yamaha rx-v467 amp from usa and it only supports 120 volt. Will it take australias 240volt power if i plug it in. There is no voltage selecter on this one! Will i have to run a voltage...

I think so...I looked at the specs on this and it does not have provisions for 240V. You're going to need a step down transformer from 240VAC to 115VAC.

Hi! Plugged in VSX 04 (newly arrived from Ebay),

No, but is is possible it is not designed to work without speakers connected. Some amps will not last long if the outputs are run "open circuit".

This may be too late...
I got it from the field manual.

Trap Switch Reset Procedure
G-4, G-5, G-6, G-7, G-8
• Replace media receiver, plasma panel cover, or tape down HDCP trap switch.
If the model in question has the TV Guide option, the TV Guide
option must be turned off before proceeding.
• Using the customer’s remote control enter “service mode” by pressing the
following key sequence:
1. Press the “display” button then release the “display” button.
2. Wait between 3 and 7 seconds
3. Press and release the “<”, “^”, “<”, “>”, and “power” buttons in sequence.
• Panel will now turn on in “service mode”.
4. Press “muting” button 3, 4 or 5 times depending on model you are working on.
Until the display shows the “initialize” page.
5. Press and hold the “display” button until the error indicator (red LED) on
either the panel or the media receiver goes out.
6. Exit service mode by pressing the “power” button on the remote.

I had to try it a couple of times before I got it to work. I.m not too sure how to turn off the tv guide mode. I just held it in for a couple of sec,s.

Good luck

Help required for dumbo on Amps Denon AVR 2808CI

Your unit was probably damaged in shipping. Denon is a nice unit! Do you hear any clicks when you hit the power button??? You should hear two relay clicks. You should hear the power relay click at power on and 3 to 5 seconds later you should hear the speaker protection relay click if your audio amp section is ok. If you hear both relays click then your display circuit is at fault. Open the unit and look for breaks on the front pcb (behind the display) and on the main board in the power section ( where the fuses are ).
Good Luck!

My receiver sr7001 will not turn on. The stand by led flashes and that is all the receiver will do. Is there any ways of resetting or changing interior fuses. I have only found 1 fuse and it is not blown.

Check ALL the switches to select inputs, speakers, AM-FM, ect,ect.....I purchased an Onkyo 5.1 Receiver Amp that retails for $500 to $600 for $9.00 at Good Will. Nothing worked when I applied power to it. So I checked all the switches. On was stuck in the down position. So I lifted it up and after powering it down and up it started to work. Can't beat the cost. Try this on your receiver. Apparently logics freeze up, like a switch will make it look like when you tried to power up. Good luck. David N

'phones engaged' no sound

My onkyo receiver was keep displaying "Phones Engaged" and no sound.
All I did was plugged in a phones plug and remove it and for the last 2 weeks there is no problem.
I just happened to have a phone plug (without the actual headphone or wires) and that seems to fix the problem.
Hope it will work you all of you as well.
Good luck.
