When I insert a DVD, such as "Due Date"; even while my car is off and parked. The screen displays a message saying "ATTENTION You can not use this function while driving. Although I can hear...

the unit will have wires that need to connect to your foot brake, and parking brake. Its the law in the state I live (Alaska) that professional installation requires the dealer to install the wires to the foot and parking brake. There is usually a sequence to getting the picture up. (like holding down foot brake while applying parking break) then the message will disappear.
I simply bypassed this by connecting the two wires to the AUX (usually red wire) so there was a 12 volt draw. added two switches inline to act as the brake sensors.

I have a kenwood ddx512 double indash and when i put in a dvd i can hear it but the screen shows blue with parking off in white letters why is that

needs to be connected to the park brake circut....when the wire gets a ground from the parking brake the screen will show picture...the reason is that it is against the law to have videos play in the front seat while the vehicle is in motion.

My vm9510 wont play the dvd with out saying parking and screen blue

You have to connect the park wire of the Jensen to your hand brakes that gets a negative signal everytime you engage it or you can try to put in series the park wire to a switch and any ground. Then read your manual how many times you got to switch it on and off until the picture appears when your dvd is playing. Same thing if you connect it to your parking brakes you got to engage your parking brakes on for 1 or 2 secs then back off then back on again for 1 or 2 secs keep doing this varying the secs till you get a picture. That will be the sequence to turn off that blue screen and on the dvd to watch the movie. Read your manual very carefully it will tell you the same thing but you definitely have to hook up the brake wire or else you will never see the picture. Check the manual for the color of the brake wire or just find the longest wire on the harness and thats usually the brake wire.

I cannot play DVDs without the parking brake engaged how do i bypass this?

I ran across of alot of lcd head units that requiers the parking brake wire connected so it will show the video, (usually just audio if parking brake not on). But if you connect that wire to a proper ground (screen always on) or a grounded switch so you can control it maually (turn it on or off when you choose)

I just got a vehicle that has the MAX385vd and won't play video

Do you mean it has this warning all of the time? If so, it is not wired properly, or there's a short not allowing it to read that it is in park and the parking brake is on.

DP Video car system to play video

look at the install diagram(wiring codes) that came with the unit. if it has a wire that's designated for the parking brake (allowing you to only watch dvds while brake is engage) take that wire and instead of hooking it up to the parking brake, ground it or put an in-line switch between wire and ground so you can turn that function on and off. warning!!! watching while driving is illegal in most states

Same problem of not showing picture

Hi,

It would seem that there is no major problem since as you posted "...working properly but dvd picture...", it then would be a matter of wiring it correctly.

Most mobile video DVD players have an e-break wire which is required to be wired to the hand brake of the vehicle. The unit will only play DVDs if the handbrake is on, therefore the vehicle must not be in motion and it is parked. This is a safety precaution so as to prevent drivers from driving and watching simultaneously.

There is of course a way to bypass this requirement. The e-brake must then be tricked into thinking that the handbrake is on for the DVD to play.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Video not showing

You have to bypass the parking brake. you do this by running the yellow black srtriped wire to the negative poularity of the parking brake wire.
