Jenn-Air JES9750AAS Electric Kitchen Range Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 29, 2010

Jenn Air JES9750AAS F1-1 code. I did alot of searching on this site and others and after reading I thought I would try replacing the ERC. Well, thats not the problem. Still getting the code. I have ohmed the temp sensor and it reads correct at room temp. I have not tried to unplug it and ohm it right after I get the code. I figured if it was bad it would have read incorrect at room temp or would have read open. I then read where someone had posted that their touch pad was bad. But their fault code was different than mine. I have run it thru a clean cycle several times. I will note that when I put the range in broil, within 5-10 mins. the F1-1 code will flash and and broiler and fan will shut off. I have also been able to turn the broiler off after it gets good and hot and within 1 minute after being turned off the code will come up. Almost seems to me like it is a temp sensor?? Please help. I am a HVAC tech and have the tools but have no experience troubleshooting electric ranges. Please help!

Thanks for the reply. I didnt know there was a stat. Do you mean the temp sensor? If so I did this and got an f1-8 code when it was not connected in the circuit. I priced the touch pad and I can get it thru Tribbles for about $250 If I recall. Is there a way to troubleshoot the touchpad? Maybe a $1000 meter that plugs into it? haaa

My Jenn Air Model jes9750aas is beeping and has a error code F1-7. the only button on the oven panel that does anything is the cancle. and it only beeps. I tried to turn off the power and leave it off for...

From what you say, I think it is the control panel. I looked around for the right one for your model and this is the cheapest one I found online. I know it is no fun to have broken appliances! It should be an easy fix though, as simple as switching the bad one out for a good one.

Good luck and happy Saturday!

Built in Jenn Air oven just gave a fault code of F1

F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

I have A F9 code on the display on my jenn-air stove what does this mean?

This indicates a problem in the door latch circuit. First check that the latch is fully opened. If it is acess the door latch motor and check for a shorted motor, to do this get an ohmeter and put one lead on the red or black wire and the other on the motor housing you should get no reading if you do replace the motor. If the motor checks out good replace the ERC electronic range control, before doing this unplug for 5 minutes and see if it will reset. To replace the ERC this link should help http://appliancehelponline.com/ovenerc.html

My jenn-air electric range is about 18 years old. sometimes for no reason f1 and beeping occured but pushing cancel stopped it until next time.about 9 months ago when beeping wouldn't stop and touchpad...

Here is some wisdom for understanding F1 fault codes.

In some models, there are subcodes that make diagnosis even easier.

Here's a simple explanation of what's going on and how to troubleshoot:

The F1 code indicates that:

a. The electronic range control (ERC) is sensing heat in the oven when in a time-of-day (i.e., not cooking) mode.

b. The ERC is receiving information to run multiple heat functions simultaneously.

Although different components (depending upon the model) could generate the code, simple and straightforward testing using your ohm meter is all you gotta do to test for it.

1. Check the oven temperature sensor. The oven sensor has to be within spec or it will cause the F1 code.
As an example of being out-of-spec, the ERC will generate an F1 fault code when the sensor shows 1650 ohms during a time-of-day mode.
This is equivalent to 350°F in the oven.
The resistance isn't high enough to generate an F2 code (runaway temp) or an F3 or F4 code (shorted/open sensor circuit).
The ERC monitors the sensor circuit after a heat cycle and expects the resistance to drop back to 1050-1100 ohms.
The fault code is generated when this doesn't happen. Checking the sensor circuit means also checking the harness,
harness connections and the sensor itself.

2. If the oven sensor circuit checks okay, then turn your inquisitive eyeballs to the touchpad.
If the range has a separate touchpad/keyboard, the keypad may have moisture that is shorting several circuits simultaneously.
If the F1 code is given immediately (instead of during or after a heat cycle),
remove the ribbon connector from the touchpad to the ERC after clearing the F1 code. If the F1 code does not return in five minutes,
then cast a suspicious gaze upon the touchpad/keyboard. Shorts may be caused by using an ammonia-based glass cleaner.
The touchpad surface will absorb ammonia-based cleaners that are sprayed directly on the glass surface. When heat is applied,
the surface material can break down causing shorts.
If you're gonna use ammonia-based cleaners on your control panel, then you should spray it on the rag and then wipe the touchpanel
-don't spray directly onto the surface of the touchpad.

3. On Amana ranges with a rotary temperature dial, be sure that the knob is in the OFF position when performing tests.

4. If these tests all check good, then replace the ERC.

F1 fault code on Jenn-Air jwg 8130

hi,
The F1 ErrorOn a number of ranges this can mean a number of things, the most common being a failed ERC(EOC, Clock assembly)or a faulty touchpad. Firstly if you are using a recent Maytag range it may pay to test the oven sensor as described above as this may cause an F1 error if faulty (may apply to some other ranges as well) this is not a common cause but is worth discounting. To check the ERC and touchpad
Disconnect the power
Gain access to the back of the ERC
Disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the ERC to the touchpad
Check nothing will short when power is reconnected
reconnect the power and switch on
Watch for F1 and listen for the beep
If you get the F1 and the beep this means the fault is with the ERC and it will need replacing
If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the beep, replace the touchpad

My Jenn Air 30 in oven

For Jenn-Air ranges, this is a fault code for a defective Electronic Range Control (ERC) and/or membrane (keypad). It is usually a bad membrane that causes this problem. If the membrane has a small ribbon cable connecting it to the ERC, you can sometimes disconnect it, clean the connections, and reinstall to correct the problem. The problem may also be as simple as a button on the keyboard stuck somewhere. Worst case scenario: you will have to replace the entire ERC and membrane altogether. For pricing information, you can find replacement parts at searspartsdirect.com or repairclinic.com. Just type in your model number in the search menu and there will be a parts index for you. The membrane and ERC are usually sold separately. I hope this helps you.
