If your pc is showing a error before starting windows it means your system is corrupt or damaged. This can be fixed with chkdsk or a repair windows install or a clean windows install.

That is something you cant prevent from showing. It will always come up when there is a problem with the operateing system.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Sounds like a bad optical drive. Good thing is: this thing uses a SelectBay removeable drive and it's a one touch remove type. Same as the ones used in the more popular Tecra 9000, Tecra 9100 series. I'd replace it. Best source is eBay. Price target? Under $15 delivered.

Samsung V20 laptop has message NTLDR is missing on start up - press any key - have done this but nothing happens - how do I get past this to start computer computer has been given to me by Father in law...

That message means that your Windows installation is somehow corrupted. If you have a Windows install CD, try booting from that into the recovery console and run the fixmbr command. Another possible reason is that Windows tries to boot from a disk that does not have an operating system installed (for instance, a bootable floppy or CD-ROM drive, or a second hard disk).

Ntdlr missing error

Ok this means that there is a file missing or corrupt. To fix this reinstall your operating system using the recovey CD that was provided by your PC manufacturer.

Do a factory reset which will wipe all contents of your hard drive and install the default operating system with all programmes and files from the CD.

Insert the Recovery CD into the CD Rom drive and restart the machine. Press F12 or F8 and select Boot CD,

Follw the instructions on screen and select relevant option. Once finished your machine will restart and set up your machine like normal (Creating a new User, Setting up networking etc)

You should not recieve this error anymore

File currupt

you can reload the operating system by pressing alt+F10 during boot. (if you still have recovery partition on your harddrive).
if you already deleted recovery partition from your harddrive, the only option is installing OS from cd.

Desperately need to fix my laptop

Yes this can be fixed however it will require reformatting the drive. If you have any vital information on your laptop take it to a professional as you will not be able to recover after you proceed.
Use any bootdisk (Ubuntu, XP, Disk commander) that you have at your disposal. Assuming you still your XP disc, change your BIOS to have the CD as the first boot device. If you have a proper XP disc (non-OEM) it should display a blue setup screen that will disappear after a few minutes. Then press R to enter Recovery Console, press 1 and then enter. Type fixmbr and press enter, then press y and enter again. Type exit and enter, the computer will reboot. Now follow through the install process.
