This can be hard to do as you should have locked the hinges with the door fully opened before taking it off. the hard part now is (with the door off) you have to push the spring loaded hinges down and lock them with small hook located on each hinge once locked the door will go back on the oven. you then open the door fully and unlock the hinges, good luck

My smeg oven light stays on the fan does not work and the oven does not heat up. This has happened straight after I took the door off to clean.

Yes, I have had the same problem. The light in the bottom oven stayed on and the oven did not work after taking off the oven door SOLUTION: I didn't put the oven doo back on properly. Take it off and try again!

We have a SMEG self cleaning oven however the glass door is filthy and we are seeking the best approach to clean it without damaging

Purchase 3M stainless cleaner for the stainless parts, do not use spray and wipe or similar as it removes the marking or etching indicators (temp. etc)

You can use oven cleaner on the glass, but try not to let it go on the stainless parts yet again.

Hope this helps?

Replaced hinge on smeg double oven but now oven doesn't heat

I have the SMEG F170-5 and had this problem after cleaning and replacing the door. It wouldn't heat unless I banged it shut. This action made the internal switch trigger, so I had to remove the oven (4 screws, slide out) and remove the right side panel (4 screws). The switch is actuated by the right hinge strut and it must have become bent slightly. I bent it a bit towards the door so that it would just a little bit more likely to make the switch trigger with the door closed and it now works fine.

i suspect you took the door off without locking the hinges
you will have to put the hinges in the lock position before putting back.
lay door on a blanket with hinges upwards. force the hinges back and bring the locking arm up to lock the hinges.
this requires considerable strength

Put back smeg oven door

Yeah I was stumped with this for a short time as it isnt imediately obvious.

The bottom of the two brackets has a flip up catch, place these in the upright position and with some force hook the upper bracket into these catches (please ensure you keep your face and hands away from the direction of the spring)

Once you have the two brackets held open offer up the door at exactly 45 degrees (notice the notch on the underside of both lower brackets) locate this notch on the door hinge hole studs.

Once this is done and your certain it is in the correct postion lower the door from 45 degrees to 90 degrees, put some pressure on the door slightly past 90 degrees and carefully fold down the flip up catches that are holding the upper brackets.
