most of these laptops comes without the bluetooth adapter. So u have to check the manual or visit where you Got your laptop to find out if it came with it. If it has then to Bluetooth radio is turn on. Press Fn+F2 as far the infrared concern it will automatically turned on when the driver installed on D600, check on Device manager for installed drivers. Hope this helps if so do rate the solution
NOTE: Ensure that the COM port that you select is different from the COM port assigned to the serial connector.
Use the arrow keys to select the infrared COM port setting.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
After you enable the infrared sensor, you can use it to establish a link to an infrared device. To set up and use an infrared device, see the infrared device documentation and the Windows XP Help and Support Center
Most often, this can be done in the BIOS. Restart the computer and press the key as shown on the enter to enter Setup. This can be F2, DEL or some other key. Once in the BIOS, browse to the categories, mostly under wireless or integrated devices, and look for an entry for Infrared (IR). From there, enable it, save your changes and exit the BIOS.
dell latitude D600 only has PC Card slot that supporting wireless cards and Built-in bluetooth, so you have to purchase the bluetooth or infrared device which is of course it is auto detect on windows xp
What kind of computer do you have? Normally you go in bios. When you turn on the computer you see on the screen that is says: F2 to enter bios. So when the computer is turned on hit f2 and then in bios you need to check on the main page or next page (depends what kind of computer you have) and you will see an option to turn on the infrared. I do not think you need to install anything after you turn them one.
Check the device manager to see if the drivers for the infrared device are there. If they aren't there, then go to Dell's site and download them. If they are, unistall, reinstall, the check Dell's site for updates. If the device manager shows everything working properly, the device itself may be malfunctioning. The same procedure for the bluetooth device.
Sound has nothing to do with infrared devices. The yellow exclamation mark that you see under the device manager is due to drivers of the infrared device not found or is not installed properly. There might also be a possibility that the device is not getting recognized by the computer due to corrupted drivers so the drivers of the particular needs to be installed again with the CD.
