My Canon A300 does everything well except take pictures. The menus work. The LCD works to display good images from CF. The LCD works to when framing a new picture. But the images are no good. Sorta pink with horizontal lines. It looked like the good ole bad CCD problem so I sent it off to Canon. They said it's something else wrong. "Please send 90 dollars to fix it." I declined. I could not get them to tell me what this problem IS. Do y'all know?
This really does sound like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status.
Which Canon facility did you send it to before (California or Illinois)? Also check the following two links for more info on how specifically to submit your camera for this issue. Think it's worth another try:

The camera went to thei Illinois shop. The classic CCD problem can be
seen before exposure. Mine is only seen when saved to memory. Thanks
for the links. I'll take a look. Would it help to post an image?
