Question about Canon PIXMA MP810 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Not recognising ink tank

The printer is not recognising one of the ink tanks. It has been funtioning perfectly well since I bought it in December. About a month ago it would intermittantly not recognise the 8 BK cartridge. If unclipped and pressed back into place the light would come on and it would print. Now despite doing this and the light coming on again it refuses to recognise it. It is still full of ink. I cannot print. Any tips?

Yes I too have had the same problem recently. 2 brand new cartridges are behaving badly, replaced and printer is working fine, hoping to have the faulty ones replaced with the local supplier. I have had the printer since November 2006, so have been very happy in the past, seems to be only a recent batch of faulty cartridges.

I have a new IP 4500 and without warning it stopped recognising the (almost full) yellow ink tank. If I took it out and replaced it then the light would go back on but as soon as I needed to use it I'd get the same message and the light would go out. Canon's technical helpline said that it was a faulty ink tank or printhead but would not send replacement. Said the supplier should do this. The supplier (Pixmania) said all they would do would be to return the printer to Canon (via Coventry and Paris!) and this could take up to 40 days. So much for Canon's warrenty!

I have same problem with CYAN ink cartridge bought at Office Depot. Will try to buy a new ink cartridge and see what happens. The printer is less than three months old.
Have tried replacing and repowering. Occasionally, I can get it to work again, but it is too frustrating.

I have the same problem. MP810 is about 3 months used. Printer will not recognise Tank C. I open up, replace the tank, the light comes on. At first it would then print, now I get a recurring U150 error message.

I have repeatly removed the ink cartridge and replaced it but no success. my printer is a MP830

We have had our mp810 for 1 1/2 years, no problem till now. It won't read the blk until it is removed or at least re-clicked into place. It is so frustrating to have to go thru all that just to print a page. Will try to replace the cartridge.

Hi, My Canon MP210 printer is displaying E3 code. The colour light and alarm lights are illuminated constantly and black one is flashing. When opening the "lid", the cartridges do not align to...

I have workaround for the empty tank issue:
- buy or borrow another not empty tank
- place it in
- start the printer
- it recognises the "new" tank
- turn off the printer
- put back the old, empty, but refilled tank
- turn on the printer
- print something
- it will pop up a dialogue window saying
"The ink level of the black/color tank cannot be
determined. The ink level determining function will be
disabled for the black/color tank.
If you want to continue printing without this function
press the Start button on the printer."
- Press the Start button on the printer and ignore the
button 'Cancel Printing' appearing on the dialogue window.
- The dialog window disappears.

You can print your refilled tank as many times you want from this time.

When you go to 'Printers /Canon /Properties /Maintenance / Printer Status / Ink Information' it says that the ink level measuring function has been disabled for: black [40] / color[41]. You can ignore this this message, the printer will work perfectly without this stupid function.

The printer won't recognise the printer cartridges. I tried replacing older cartridges with new ones and even this doesn't work. They are genuine epson cartridges and the same ones I have always bought.

Check chip connnector at ink tank and at head carriage. It's may be dirty. Check status monitor? what ink tank not recognized. Press ink light (1-4 times) depends on number ink tank not recognized, press 1 time again, carriage will move co replacement position, unplug and plug again all ink tank, press ink light 1 more.

insert orignal canon black ink tank it will work .return that ink tank as the chip in that ink tank is not detected by the printer so you are facing this problem.

Epson Photo RX620

I use a bulk ink system which is not Epson so printer did not recognise the ink supply.
I 1) Turned printer off
2) Removerd bulk ink suppy tanks
3) Fitted Epson ink tanks [ dont matter empty or full ]
4) Turn on printer and let it go through it's start up prcedure
5) Do not turn printer off but do ink change procedure and refit bulk ink tanks
6) Do Nozle Check/Clean/Realignment
Bingo sorted
