Powerspec b820. How do I add a new HDD

>Power down, and unplug the computer.
>Remove the Left cover (when facing the front); there are 2 thumb screws top & bottom on the rear. They go through the black edge of the cover and thread into the case. The side cover pops off.
>Locate the hard drive, unplug the two SATA cables (power and data) from the hard drive; leave them plugged into the motherboard.(see picture)
>There are two screws that hold the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) in the bay; remove them. There may be two on the other side (sometimes not). If so, you will have to remove the other side cover in order to access them for removal.
>The HDD will slide out the rear of the bay.
>Slide in the new one, reset the screws, replace the cables, and put the side cover(s) back on.
You're done and ready to format and install your operating system.

Removing ASUS CG8350 cd drive from a desktop computer

Removing a cd drive isn't difficult and takes just a few minutes.
1. Remove the side panels (screws are at rear of casing)
2.Remove the screws on each side of the cd drive - the screws hold it into its slot.
3. Remove the power cable and data cable by gently pulling on the connector that fits the rear of the cd drive. You may have to hold the cd drive and 'rock' the connectors slightly.

Take note of which cable goes where. depending on whether it is ide, you may have a color coded power cable. Connectors only fit to the cd drive in one position. Make sure you know which way to refit them.

Insert your new cd/dvd drive and simply reconnect the cables. replace the holding screws and then refit the side panels. It's a straightforward job that only takes a few minutes.

Harddisk not working

First - check the BIOS settings to see if the hard disk is detected.
If not re-seat the data and power cables on the hard drive and on the motherboard. Reboot the computer to see if it boots up. If not is the hard disk LED flashing as the computer boots up?
If not then to further check the hard disk, remove the hard disk and attach it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer cannot see this as an external hard drive nor open the various folders and files then the hard disk is definitely faulty.
THE FIX.
Install a new hard drive in your Dell and install Windows on this hard drive, together with the Dell's device drivers and your programs.
You can download the Dell's device drivers from a another computer that has Internet access.

These drivers are available from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

Just curious as to on a MAC, as I have 10.6, it will show SEARCH FOR on the side and under my all documents it shows Today, Yesterday, past week as well as All Documents, All Movies and All Images used on...

Hello,
The Finder window will help you to find files on the left hand side of its window. It helps you to find files that have been opened or modified by you Today, Yesterday... Don't delete these files as you might loose them!
The results of the search doesn't take memory, but these files are located somewhere else in your drive. Deleting them will result in their loss,
Hope that helps

Add/remove programs want opening on my pc

Populating the list could take ages, you should leave it for at least 5 minutes.
Instead of using the windows utilities, try CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/). Its a great utility for cleaning useless things off your computer like temporary internet files and logs. Also supports registry error cleaning and Supports Uninstall and Startup.

You may have damaged the drive by dropping it or bumping it while writing data. You may have Placed it near a strong Magnet or a Virus has infected it and destroyed the file system.
Inside one of those drives is a 2.5" Hard drive. You could take it to a data recovery shop and see what they could do for you.
Hope this teaches you a lesson: Always have 2 copies of your files.
