SOURCE: Hard Drive Password protected

It's 50/50. With some hard drives you can reload the system, with some you can't. If it's one that won't allow you then you will need to replace the hard drive. One little trick you might try if the hard drive won't allow you to reload is place the hard drive on the speaker magnet in your car overnight. Open the trunk, and you should see the magnet at the base of the speaker, just stick the hard drive directly to it, and leave it. A speaker magnet is strong enough to scramble a hard drive. This doesn't always work, but it has worked a couple of times for me with hard drives I've picked up at auction that were password protected.

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 600m: No Boot Device. I'm a computer

Have you tried resetting the BIOS defaults? In doing so, it will force IDE re-detection and often resolve vague boot issues.

How do I use the password protection?

Your questions isn't too specific but I hope this helps

There are several ways to incorporate password protection. You can set the computer to require a boot up password in the computer BIOS. You have to enter the computer BIOS as soon as you turn it on; with a Dell press [F2], with HP press [Esc] and select system configuration. In the BIOS you can set the BIOS Administrator password - controls the ability to change BIOS settings, the computer boot password - when enabled it requires the user to enter the bootup password before the computer will boot, and set the hard drive access password - controls the users ability to access a hard drive.

The next level of password protection is at the operating system level - account access levels, privilege levels, and passwords. Dependent of operating system you can also set hard drive encryption

Xp200 power on password

Power On password The Power on Password and hard drive password is used to protect the laptop/computer and hard disk from unauthorized access.
The hard drive password is setup in the BIOS you need the hard disk password to remove the password. I'm afraid you may have purchased a stolen laptop/computer. It is impossible to remove a hard drive's password there are no backdoor passwords because the password is stored in the hard drive's firmware. If the laptop/computer has a Power on Password then this laptop cannot boot up.
If the hard drive is password protected then remove the existing drive, replace it with a new hard drive may fix the laptop/computer r BUT it may also set a password on the new hard disk and lock it with the same password. If it does not password protect the new hard drive, then install Windows plus laptop/computer's device drivers and programs to get a working laptop/computer.

Hi! My hard drive is password protected. I do not know what it is. I tried to use it as a slave drive but it wont appear in my computer. What will I do?

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there also

The most common way that most of us know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing a battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased. Hope this helps

Purchased on Ebay an Asus which has a locked HD. I have booted it to USB stick with Knoppix. It has a 160Gb locked Western Digital drive. Is this a bios problem? Is it a HD firm ware problem. I'm not...

You have to erase the motherboard memory. However this is extremely difficult. Even if you esase the cmos memory and put in a whole new hard drive, the lock may still be there. Your best bet is to contact the seller to see if they will give you the password. If they dont want to help you then you should leave a negative feedback on their account.

My flash not open when i make click on the disk he is give to me do you wont to formit

It has password protection. Open My Computer on your PC, insert the USB drive, open the password file, enter your password, then select the option to remove password protection from the USB drive. If this does not work, contact Verbatim for a solution, these USB flash drives have lifetime warranties!
