Question about Harman Kardon AVR 630 Receiver

2 Answers

No surround sound

I have Klipsch speakers; one front, one subwolfer, four RX4s. I also have a 43 inch Pioneer Plasma TV. The Klipsch surround sound worked great, but now the only sound comes from the TV. I have checked all of the connections. Help Please!

Hi,

As you already checked the speakers, the HK manual says to check if the audio analog chain is fine. That means selecting 6/8 direct channels as source and apply a sound source for each channel. You can use a CD and test each pair of the 6/8 inputs at a time or use the output from a PC sound card with a test generator software (some excellent free software available as from NCH swift). Adjust the volume and listen. I guess you will obtain sound from the right front channel.
If you have sound in all speakers at the end of the test it means all audio channels are fine end to end.
The good news according to HK manual is that you eliminated 90% of the component of the system. The bad news is the problem is in the DSP section. There are no instructions or tests for the DSP part so you will have to go to the service center.

Goodluck..

I think the problem is the C657 capacitor, located on the DSP PCB. You can either replace it yourself, or just hand
the info out at your local repair centre.

Check the wiring while it is ON, there might be a loose wiring... also check the power of the amplifier... then check the TV setting for the activation of the surround system...

Post me the results... hope this Fixya the problem...

I have a Pioneer VSX 823 - K, and when I hook up my Klipsch HG-12 300 watt subwoofer to it, the receiver is prone to overheating or just shutting off with too much bass. Is there a fix to this?

This is receiver thermal going in protect issue and has no bearing to your sub, The sub has its own power amp and not supplied by the receiver. Thermal module may be bad. See a tech.

Is a Denon most compatible with new Klipsch KB-15 speakers

no brand of receiver is matched to certain speakers. Denon is a decent brand of receiver (but most of the low to mid range models are almost identical to Pioneer inside). Go with a good receiver that has the functions that you need that fits in your budget.

Pioneer VSX 1020K - Zone 2 Setup

I referred to a similar zone 2 arrangement for a Yamaha receiver. It shows a separate amplifier and notes that only analog signals are sent to zone 2. The analog output from a source must be connected to the analog input on your Pioneer unit for zone 2 to work. Your outdoor music environment will be limited to left and right front speakers and...alas...no surround

Problem for Pioneer VSX-818V-K 5.1 Channels Receiver Surround sound doesn't work, display reads 2CH IN,surround speakers are enabled, automatic test will find surrand speakers

Test with an surround sound media ie. Blu-ray or DVD)_. Disconnect the front and all other speakers that are working to see if sound from the missing speakers are heard. If this doesn't work then start by tracing and checking all the wires from the receiver to the speakers for bad/shorted/open connections.

PLEASE VOTE IF THIS WAS HELPFUL. THANKS & GOOD LUCK.

Pioneer vsx-519 no sound from center and surround

Make sure that the sound field/programme you have selected is dolby digital not stereo.(On the amp)
You also need to check on the display that is says DIGITAL not ANOLOUGE, as only a digital input, Optical fibre cable, HDMI, COAX will be a digital signal.
If you are using red and white rca connectors, it is not going to work, as this is an Anolouge signal.

Reciever only allows 2 channels(speakers) at a time.

I had this problem too. Finally, after using the MCACC setup and making sure all the speakers worked, I found I had to set the source to FM, TV or whatever from the remote control and set the mode to advanced surround sound using the front panal button on the upper right. Had to fool with them a lot. Good luck.

Creating a surround sound system

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand should work more than OK. Even if the 520 is only pushing 75watts per channel, you have 2 X for the front KSB-2.1 (left & right) plus another 75 for the Polk Audio center in addition to 250watts built-in amp of the Velodyne CT-150. What would be better is another pair of KSB-2.1 or comparable for the surround (another 2 X 75 and widening the separation).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
