I need to know first if your TV is on standby mode (red LED lit) or not?..If the green light lit your TV your high voltage (HV) is switch but you have open line on heater that cause of no picture and the sounds is chirping because of analog(antenna)/digital connection or bad audio chips..
I need this information above for specific diagnosis and to prevent more damage and failure..Also I need this information to avoid mistakes to buy a parts with no help...
also I need the model # because on my tread there are 2 model # which are correct? is it 60PP9202 60" or 55PP8620?..for specific diagnosis and for possible get a diagram..
I have a similar problem with an LG (except my red is the one that is fine) and was able to talk to a tech in some detail about it. The tech prefaced by saying that he had done a hundred or so of these with exactly the same issue. This is very common and the life span of rear projection televisions is not great. Having said that, plasmas and LCDs are also limited in life span mostly due to modern high performance gaming machines which shorten the lifespan of monitors both plasma and LCD alike.
From what I have gathered, this is not a problem that you can easliy sort out. (Of course they would say that though) It involves replacing the digital board which means soldering followed by aligning the lamps which requires quote a lot of expertise.
The part itself apparently costs around $200 Australian and the labour will vary for the cost of the technician but I was quoted that the labour was about the same cost as the part.
Not sure if I would call this solved but I hope it has been at least a little helpful.
Hi, replace the convergence IC`s and any fried resistors and chemical fuses (if any), do not push magic focus anymore it will not correct the prroblem and it will evenntually corrupt the DCU and cause you more problems (and of course more money), questions? ask awayy, video-tek
Manufactures sometimes contract with other tv companies to build their tv. Regardless of the internal hardware you still have a philips tv. I beleive this set was made by Hitachi. And what you are looking for is a replacement board. This board is referred to as the small signal module. When contacting a rebuilt board, have the model# and the chassis# available. And contact PTSELECTRONICS.com or Andrews Electronics.com. The board you seek is in the rear lefthand side on the floor of the TV. You will see a pair of tall aluminum fins. Theses are the heatsinks for the convergence ICs. I would definitely replace this small signal module, as repair on the local level will require pulling the board in and out of the tv several times. The company will give a part number and then you may order this. Striving for success the first time!!!!
Inside of the tube assembly, there is a cooling liquid. This could be a job to change, and then re-adjust everything. It is also possible that on top of this, there are problems with the convergence and bias control circuits.
Typical repairs can run in the area of about $400 to about $800 depending on the amount of work and type of parts required.
Personaly, I would go out and get a good Plasma or LCD TV at this point!
Did the ngineer say that it was problem with convergence pcb ?
To be honest the lil git hitting the screen is more likely to damage the screen than convergence.
Try going in to the menu then convergence & adjust red & blue to try & get the crosses white with no coloured halo around.
Post on here with results your model of tv is pretty straight forward I work for an indepedent tv repair shop the manuals are easy to get hold of thats if he even needs one.
