Windows XP - Where is

When attempting to load LG driver(s) using the CD software that came with my new LG 1953T-BF 19" LCD monitor, it instructs as follows:
Click "START", then select "SETTINGS", then click "CONTROL PANEL", then double click "DISPLAY".

In Windows XP, after clicking on green "START" on bottom left of screen, nowhere do I see "SETTINGS" on the pop-up menu. What do I have to change?

It sounds like the instructions are for the classic start menu and you are running in the regular XP more.
There are two ways to work with this. The easist is to just skip the settings step and just select "Control Panel" and go from there.
The other option is to set your Start menu to the classic mode. You can do this by Right-clicking on the Start button and selecting properties. From there you should see two options; Start menu and Classic Start menu. Select Classic Start and then click on OK. The next time you open up the start menu it will look different, but you should have the Settings option back this way.

In windows xp it is some what different
after clicking START you will directly get there CONTROL PANEL click on that then go to display in that(make to WINDOWS CLASSIC in left pane of this control panel then it will easy for you to find the display)
that all you will get the display settings then adjust it...

you can also go to display settings as follows:
1. right any where on desktop except on icon & except on start menu
2. now goto properties...
3. in properties select the tab SETTINGS...
4.this is the display properties what you will get by going to control panel... i means it the same which you will get from control panel

Hi Grumpa43,

None, on some install versions of XP, the Settings has been removed. If there is no Settings, just proceed to Control Panel.

Alternately, you can also go to the Display Properties by doing a right click on any clear area of your desktop and left click on the "Properties"

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Tip

INSTALLING A PRINTER IN WINDOWS 7

To install a printer in window 7, you need the printer installation CD/software.

Connect the printer to your system via a USB Cable (or any other cable necessary). Power on the printer. If you use a USB cable, windows 7 will automatically detect the printer and try to install it for you. However, if windows 7 does not have the driver, you will be prompted to load the drive from CD or a file location. If you have the Driver CD, load it now or browse to the folder where the driver software is located and load the software. Follow the on screen instruction to complete the installation.

Also
From start------devices and printers ------ add a printer ------add local printer ----- use an existing port, next ----------choose the printer manufacturer and the printer model. If not on the list and you have the installation CD choose have Disk and then next. Follow the onscreen instruction to complete the installation.

You can also run the Printer driver software and follow the onscreen instruction to complete the installation.

HOW TO REFORMAT MY LG KM 555E?

Windows XP Setup: Typical Approach to Re-Installing XP, this process is basically the same process for Win 7. Windows 7 is simpler just insert the DVD into your drive and reboot and choose either upgrade or full install follow the onscreen instruction.
1. When the Windows XP Setup or Win 7 screen appears, press <Enter> to select To set up Windows now.
2. Read the information on the Microsoft Windows Licensing Agreement screen, and press <F8> to accept the license agreement. Win 7 just follow onscreen instructions.
3. If your computer already has Windows XP installed and you want to recover your current Windows XP data, type r to select the repair option, and remove the CD.
4. If you want to install a new copy of Windows XP, press <Esc> to select that option.
5. Press <Enter> to select the highlighted partition (recommended), and follow the instructions on the screen.
The Windows XP Setup screen appears, and the operating system begins to copy files and install the devices. The computer automatically restarts multiple times.
NOTE: The time required to complete the setup depends on the size of the hard drive and the speed of your computer.
NOTICE: Do not press any key when the following message appears: Press any key to boot from the CD.
6. When the Regional and Language Options screen appears, select the settings for your location and click Next.
7. Enter your name and organization (optional) in the Personalize Your Software screen, and click Next.
8. At the Computer Name and Administrator Password window, enter a name for your computer (or accept the one provided) and a password, and click Next.
9. If the Modem Dialing Information screen appears, enter the requested information and click Next.
10. Enter the date, time, and time zone in the Date and Time Settings window, and click Next.
11. If the Networking Settings screen appears, click Typical and click Next.

Have problem with windows Xp pro.

You can get the correct drivers from the Gateway website. Use another computer and download all the Windows XP files for that model number from the website. You need your model number of your pc. Get the files for your motherboard, video, sound card, network card, etc. save them to a usb key or a burn them to a cd. Take the usb key/cd to the other system and load the drivers.

This will get your system back up and running in now time.

I hope this helps you.
