Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

Won't start I have a toshiba Satellite A200 0QHO. When i turn it on, it starts normally, but as soon as it gets to the main screen, it comes up with "Downloading updates 3/3 0% , Do not turn of the computer" The updates never load, and the computer commences restarting and updating. I've tried starting the computer normally, and tried to take it back to its last known good configuration, but nothing works. Please Help.

Hmmm..that's weird..here's a notion. are you connected to the net, with wireless or direct connection? If you disconnect, the updates will shut off, since there's no connection found.

try that first..

ok..place the original install cD in the player, and let the machine restart. Should look at the cd, and offer a re install option. That unending update issue, MAY be a virus issue, or simply a corrupted system files issue. Your data should be safe on Hard drive, but you'll need to reinstall all the other device drivers, from the provided CD. Still can't imagine what might have happened to your computer, other than a nasty boot sector virus.

you'll want to have a backup, when your computer is back up..

wow...no installation cd..well, I know that some are just installing it on the hard drive..only thing to do is to try the safe mode start up. hit F8 as it s booting up, and that should take you to safe mode, where most of the accessory applications are off. Then, you can run a virus check, and see if that's what's happening.

Toshiba Sattelite PRO L300 telling me checking file system C one of disks needs to be checked However it then says an error has occured and won't leave this screen !

Press F8 and choose command prompt. You may have to use a boot disc if you can't get c prompt.
Type cmd ENTER. From the Command Prompt type chkdsk /r/f ENTER. R and F are redundant for repair and fix, but does not hurt.

My toshiba laptop was shutdown improperly. now when i turn it on it says. system shutdown improperly start normally. safe mode. ect ect.....i click on one and it just keeps going back to that screen

Restart your pc, as soon as it powers on (even before you see anything on the screen), repeatedly tap on F8 to access the advanced boot menu, choose the option for last known good configuration. If it still doesnt boot up, repeat the same procedure but this time, choose the option for repair your computer, then choose the option for system restore.

Hi, I seem to be having a strange problem with my Toshiba SATELLITE A200 ... usual sounds but the laptop does not go any further after the Toshiba screen. ... Kindly advise on what the problem could be...

It sounds like you have a start up problem,
Try a start up repair 1st. If start up repair cannot fix the problem or detect a problem try this.
Soon as you power up your laptop keep tapping F8 until another screen comes up. Select safe mode with networking and see if it loads. If it loads go to google and type in TDSSKILLER.EXE and download the exe not the zip to your desktop. Double click on the TDSSKILLER icon and install. Once installed scan your computer for errors. Once scan is complete select cure. After curing please reboot your system and try to boot in normal mode. If this program doesnt sort the problem out you may have to reinstall windows. TDSSKILLER is free and a great utility to have on your desktop. Hope this helps, If you need any further assistance please feel free.

Im having problems with my Toshiba Satellite L455DS5976 it wont start up. it will go to the normal toshiba screen when you turn it on but after that the screen goes blank and theres a white line what...

I had the same problem. Let it run that way for about 5-10 minutes, it should show a menu, choose START WINDOWS NORMALLY.
It will take some more time to boot, be patient. Once you start it, do the clean up, virus check and delete everything you don't it. That worked for me.
If this helps, please rate. Thank you

Im getting blue screens right after the toshiba welcome screen thing as soon as the computer turns on. i have no recovery/installation discs as its a 2008 model and really wanna reboot it now

Probably the easiest way to resolve this issue is by following the steps outlined below.

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Turn the computer on and immediately press F8 repeatedly until you get the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
3. use the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and press enter.
4. Window is should start with a "Help" window.
5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?"
Click on that and "Click to open System Restore"
6. click on that and a new window comes up recommending restoring to a previous state.
7. Click ok and the operating system should restore your computer successfully and reboot into normal mode.
