Large black bar to the left of screen

My Samsung HLR5067W has a black bar that runs from top to bottom on the left side of the screen. Replaced the light tunnel and now the black bar is larger than before. Any ideas?

When replacing the light tunnel, the new one must be installed exactly as the old one came out. This can only be done by marking the screws and backing them our exactly 3 or 4 revolutions and then tightening the new one the exact same revolutions. When looking into the old tunnel you should have been able to see the mirror that came unglued to ensure that was the problem. The problem now can be corrected by loosening the screws on the dmd bd and manually adusting the dmd position in association of how it hits the dlp chip.

Its not the set if only on certain channels, it cannot be. Got a box or something connected for signal?

It also should not do it if a DVD etc connected to a rear input is used.

How to replace both inner and outer tv screens ?

Relativity easy to do yourself, but better if you have some one to help, all you need is a Philips head screwdriver, and the replacement screens, the technical name for them are Lenticular Screen, and Fresnel, one is white, and the other is black.

You start by taking off the screws in the back of the the TV, there are screws along the top, both sides, and there are two on the the bottom right, and two on the bottom left, and there are three on the front by the power and channel and volume buttons. then grab one side and have your partner grab the other, and pull straight off.

IMPORTANT!!!!! DO NOT TOUCH THE WHITE SCREEN WITH YOUR BARE HANDS, IT IS COVERED WITH A POWDER AND CANNOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANY FLUIDS, INCLUDING THE OIL ON YOUR HANDS!

There are four bars that hold the screens in, one on top, bottom left and right. to remove the top, left and right you have to wiggle them loose after removing the screws.

The Black screen will go in first, make sure that the smooth side is what you will be looking at when you are done, the white screen will go right on top of it, the rough side of the white screen will meet with the rough side of the black screen.

then put the screen assembly back on, and replace screws.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions, let me know.

I have a Samsung HLR5067W. I get green plaid

If you can afford it, replace the digital board, or the problem may be connections on the DNIE chip on the digital board, near the DVI connector at the back side of the board. Apply pressure to this chip. It is a BGA type (Ball Grid Array) that has pins underneath that contact points on the board. This is becoming common with high density ICs where external pin connections require larger size chips, tighter spacing, and geometries that are not efficient for the design of the chip. There are good reasons to use BGA, but they can be difficult to solder properly. Apparently, Samsung has had some issues with this chip. One solution is to try to re-flow the solder. I don't suggest this for anyone without the right equipment or tech expertise. It is very easy to heat the wrong parts or overheat the chip, board, or related parts. The board is encased in a metal housing with holes. Look for something that might fit between the chip and housing to put some pressure on the chip, like a bolt. Fit it in, then push the edges of the housing down to where you can put the screws holding it all together back in. There will be significant tension on the bolt, with the larger hex head end standing on the chip and the tip of the screw fitting against the metal housing (bolt standing on its head on top of the chip). Use a little pressure to get the screws back in, which will be good, as it will cause the housing like a large spring pushing down on the bolt, which will put a great deal of pressure on the chip. Simple solution if this is the problem.

Black Bar

I know this is an old thread, but hopefully this will help someone! The problem is the DMD board is knocked out of alignment. It is adjusted by removing the small cooling fan and loosening the three gold screws that hold the assembly in place (two on the left and one in the middle of the board) AND by loosening the three (or four) spring loaded screws in the middle of the heat sink. Display a test pattern (from the service menu), tape the interlock switch closed (so you can power the set with the back off) and then carefully move the assembly (down is up; left is right.) An assistant helps! Once the image is correct, snug the screws up (they don't need to be torqued down!)

It took me FOREVER to figure this out - hopefully this will help someone else a little faster!
