Okay I have updated the bios (thanks cyberneticus).

Currently running a Northwood 1.8 gig CPU and am trying to fit a Prescott 3.0gig CPU. (Will this processor work on this motherboard?) The fans run but no video comes up on the monitor. Have confirmed the cpu is okay in a different motherboard so am hoping it is a voltage issue and a jumper or bios setting change is required. Help please.

Have worked out that a Northwood 3 gig processor works fine in this Motherboard so am going that way. (can't get a Prescott 3 gig to work and have given up trying).

If anyone has the original CD which came with this Motherboard (SL-86SPE-L) I would dearly love to get a copy of some of the drivers and utilities.

Computer now scores 8160 on 3Dmark2003 so am pretty happy as I was just building it up for my young son to play games on.

In short, yes you can upgrade to a P4 cpu but from the compatibility chart at Intel support, it looks like the upper limit for this older board is the P4 2.6GHz.

Note: Even at that, running the P4 2.6 would require a BIOS upgrade to P12 or greater.

Luckily, the following link has the information you seek: (for BIOS info, click the "BIOS Version" link in the upper right corner of the compatibility table provided)

Intel D845HV CPU Compatibility

I hope this info is helpful!

Can the cpu be upgraded to BX80526C1000256! If yes what modifications need to be made? Motherboard is EliteGroup P6STP-FL

Hello!

If you want upgrade you CPU, you must first know, specification of motherboard.
If the motherboard can´t see a new CPU, more exactly bios, you can try only one upgrade bios.
I give you a link for a manual and upgrade bios.

When you upgrade bios, try new CPU, if bios again don´t see a CPU, you can´t do anything about that.

If I could find your manual, I would bet that your memory should be CL2 or a max of CL2.5 which is the core voltage of the memory.

A lot of places do not show the CAS or CL voltage, rather they make you look for it. Thats just wrong.

CPU Upgrade

Athlon XP 3000+ is 400mhz FSB according to the link(http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_1274_3734^11672,00.html), means that in order to display the actual speed of your Athlon XP 3000+ you have to set your board 166mhz to 200mhz jumper setting or in CMOS utility overclocking option. and also just to inform you that your motherboard is in Overclocked condition when set, because it only supports processors up to 333mhz FSB (http://www.digital-daily.com/motherboard/soltek-sl75frv/)
