Bobbin case I need to fix my bobbin case. Can you explain what holds the case in place so the needle doesn't jam? It's for the Brother ex660 model sewing machine.

ok..step one..is the needle tightly installed, and not bent?

from the embroidery forum. Seems like this is somewhat complicated, eh?

When a machine "jams up" like this it can cause extra thread to become
lodged in the mechanism. Take your bobbin and bobbin case out (if able)
and clean carefully. Use no wax dental floss on all areas that your
thread would travel through. You may have knocked the needle shaft out
    of alignment also.

    Clean thoroughly, check needle alignment,
embroidery foot placement, change needle and "walk it through" (turn
hand wheel) a few stitches if you are able. If you can not stitch it is
possible that the needle shaft has shifted and you will need to take to
    a mechanic.

While a Brother dealer should be the most familiar
with your machine, call around and see if any other reputable machine
mechanics might be able to work on this machine as you will be paying
for the service no matter where you go.

ok..so all the experts ignored the notes, and read the top product line, and went to work. and kudos to the fellow that got it right, by IGNORING the item at the top, and reading the notes from the EU. No wonder the EU was so frustrated. Most of us experts were led down an erroneous path, and I didn't catch it until the very end..shame on me for not being able to read her mind. And all it came up to was an Inappropriate rating.

What does it mean when the motor jams and the needle is hitting the bobbin case?

Make sure the needle is put in the right direction and a new one. Also, check the bobbin to make sure it is one that fits properly.

Your sewing machine is likely to be out of timing. This means the needle goes under the throat plate to pick up the bottom thread but it is going at the wrong time. The bottom and top have to be synchronized. This is a problem that usually requires the replacement of gears. Anyway, it isn't a home fix problem.

I have a brother lx 2500 sewing machine and when it jamed i opened up the bobbin area and cleaned everything but now having problems getting the casing back in

Use a mirror and make sure that the area is perfectly clean and there are no obstructions. Then make sure that the needle is all the way up to the top of its cycle and then insert the bobbin.

The bobbin case keeps rotating and jamming up. I have to open the cover and move it back into position

Are you using the right size bobbins? It requires a SA 156, I use the metal ones that I buy on ebay, 20 for $8.99 and free shipping. Less trouble.

I have a CE-4000 model. In the middle of sewing,

When you put back in the bobbin case, there is a little "knub" that sticks out with a flat spot on the right (on the top side of it) that you need to ensure it rests gently to the left of the position finger bracket (silver metal piece, in the square of the bobbin case area its on the right closest to you).

When you put in initially, it was probably twisted clockwise and there was a gap between the knub and the position finger bracket and when you put the needle plate on in jams that bobbin case in that position and the needle just takes chunks out of it..

You might need a new bobbin case, try sanding out the needle marks with sandpaper.

Thread jams in bobbin case

Open the bobbin area and make sure it is clean.

Change to a new needle.

Thread the machine with the presser foot up.

Make sure the bobbin thread is feeding in the correct direction from the bobbin spool and through the guide on the bobbin case.

Take hold of the end of the top thread and lower, then raise the needle to pull the bobbin thread up.

Take hold of both thead ends and pull them under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

Place fabric under the presser foot. Lower and hand walk the first couple of stitches.

When sewing, and you need to stop to adjust the fabric, make sure the needle is down into the fabric. This will keep the stitch from malformation and causing a possible tangle.

If you need a manual, you can download one free at the Brother website.

Machine jammed

Turn off the power and remove the needle and presser foot.

Open the needle plate and bobbin case and clean the area, removing lint and the jammed thread.

Make sure the bobbin case is properly in place.

There is a maintenance section in the manual to show you how to remove the bobbin case and clean the machine.

Install a new needle with the flat side to the back of the machine.

Rethread the machine with the presser foot up.

Make sure the thread from the bobbin is feeding from the bobbin spool in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

If you need a manual, you can download one at Brother.com.

Thread is not coming up from the bobbin assembly on sewing machine. Stitches don't show any thread coming from the bottom.

YOUR PROBLEM IS THE TIMMING IN YOUR MACHINE. THIS HAPPENDS WHEN YOU FORCE YOUR MACHINE TO SEW SOMETHING OR WHEN YOUR NEEDLE BRAKES. nOT SURE HOW TO FIX IT. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. USUALLY A TUNE-UP WOULD DO IT. IT'S ABOUT $99 TO $130.00 TO DO A TUNE UP. i WISH I KNEW HOW TO FIX IT MYSELF.

Brother VX-1120- The needle is not picking up bobbin thread.

I had the same problem with my brother vx-1120 sewing machine. I set the needle to lowest position by using the hand crank. Then I loosened the knerled set screw that holds needle in place. Then I moved needle shaft till the eye of needle is just lower than the hook on the shuttle loop maker. It made my mechine work. There are instuctions for ajusting timing on machine but I think these mechines are built to not fix and throw out. Just because there where no ajustment marks at all on machine, any machanical machine will needed to be ajusted sometime.
