Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV

Line in middle of LCD screen

I have line black vertical line 1 pixel wide down middle of screen...any way to fix?

    I have a 37 in. Aquos and have a blue line down the center of screen. Had it looked at and Sharp is replacing the TV.The repair man said it is a pixel line and its on the screen. Thank god it was still under warranty. With new TV I will definitly get an extended warranty..

    I brought this model on 30-1-07 as soon as its warranty runs out I get a black line down the centre.

    I have a black vertical line on my TV as well. Purchased on 12/16/2006 from Best Buy. Also purchased the extented warranty. Is this covered by the extended plan? I've written to Sharp and awaiting a reply. Also going to contact Best Buy.

    My Sharp Aquos LCD LC-52D62 developed the dreaded horizontal scan line 2 months out of warranty. Scan line is in contrast to pic background, is midway vertically, and doesn't seem to move more than 1/4". Only about 1 pixel wide and present regardless of input source. When I first noticed I thought it might be RF interference but it is on all channels. Up til now I was very happy with the Sharp unit. We will see how.... or if they resolve. I submitted digital pics to their Customer Service for review and am awaiting any response. They acknowledged receipt.

    Same problem here with the vertical line down the center of the screen. I have read on other sites that Sharp's Customer service in Canada is not very helpful. Maybe they hate hockey.

    i have a similar problem with my LC-52D62U, after a little more than a years ,a vertical blue line appeared on the left side ''1/4'' from the left from top to bottom of the screen :( any solution?

    ; I OWN SPARP 42 LCD (MODEL-LC42D62U) it just appeared all at once,YESTERDAY 2 yellow rectangular squares top rigt corner 2 inch in hight X 5 inches across,and at opposite top corner a slim blue line as slim as 2 mm,from left to right.IS THIS REPAIRABLE OR IT HAS TO BE REPLACED ?     It appears that sharp has a major quality issue. I have the exact same problem on a LC-42D62U. Sharps customer service asked for photo's which I sent in. Since the TV is out of warranty, they called and said they would replace it with a brand new warrantied model for $545 or a refurbished one for $370. They upgraded it to the 120hz version since they were out of stock on the equivalent model. Having to pay any amount for a 2 year old TV is sad but what choice does the consumer at this point. Still have not been advised by Sharp what the real problem is other than a quick comment that it is related to pixels.

I too had a black line horizontally across the screen (on a 52" d62). It was brand new and was as if the screen had been "pinched" at the end of the line and it radiated outward (in my case, the "pinch" was at the extreme left and line went out to the right, like a crack).

Mine was a factory defect (right out of the box) and was replaced (2 yr now and no issues). This line of yours may have been there from the start and maybe you just didn't notice it?? Not a slam, just an observation.

Not unless you replace the LCD panel itself. Hopefully it is under warranty as they panels are very expensive.

I have the same problem, black line running right to left accross the screen, warranty still is active and sharp's customer service seemed very helpful. Seems like a technician should be here soon to fix the tv

Screen went black with a vertical rainbow line down the middle


Failue of the vertical section, could be the drive, the power to the section or even some discrete componets. Unless you are familiar with electronics , get some help to ceck out on these circuits, could not be major but to get themain culprit will require good probing.

Vertical red line through screen


This is a problem within the screen, probably the connection from the internal ribbon connector to the display. Unfortunatly the only way to repair this is to have the screen replaced.

Good Evening, I have a HP laptop and it has a black line about 1 inch wide running vertically on the screen


To me this sounds like there is a problem with the LCD flat ribbon cable which connects the motherboard/mainboard of the laptop to the LCD screen. Does this vertical line always appear regardless whether you are in Windows? If so, then the cable
is either slightly loose or is somehow being pinched by the laptop hinge. Tap or press in the area above your keyboard to see if this goes away. If not, you may have to open up your machine and inspect the LCD cable.

What you're describing is usually the result of an improperly seated connector. With the power disconnected, open the tv and locate any connectors between the LCD screen and the driver circuit board. Unplug them, and reconnect it assuring it's properly and firmly seated. Be careful when handling these cables as they tend to be quite fragile... take your time.

My Ibm Laptop r51 has a vertical lines on the screen


The lines appearing on your LCD means it has a defect on the screen.

There are 3 types of pixel defect
1) dead pixel - pixel is always off
2) stuck pixel - pixel is always on
3) hot pixel - pixel is on but in red, green, blue or yellow, can also be a light black color

You can try to fix stuck or hot pixels but dead is dead.
1st method, flashing different colors rapidly:
JSScreenfix.com has a great tool. This is their free java applet or you can download it below.

2nd method, applying pressure to pixel:
Damp paper towel, Small stylus or dull pencil.

3rd method, tapping the pixel:
Pen with cover on or another small, blunt object.


If your laptop is still under warranty, get it replaced. If not you are looking at the most expensive part in a laptop to get replaced. (LCD screens on laptop is roughly equivalent to 40-60% of the total laptop cost

Unfortunately, there is no way to fix it.
This line called "Tab Separation" of LCD.
You'll need whole new LCD display.
Very very common problem.
