As far as I can find out the only thing available is the motor and shaft itself for a substantial cost.

My mixer blades are bouncing against the bottom and sides of the bowl and making a racket. The head of the mixer bounces up and down when I'm mixing very liquid-y mixes. When I made bread, I noticed a...

The BUSH on the spindle is worn out. You will notice that liquid blending might make the liquid to flow out through this . If so it is confirmed. This is usual as the food particles gets caught on and wear off the bush in due time.
the blade unit has to be taken out and the bush must be changed after choosing the right bush for the steel spindle.
You can confirm rotating the spindle and see if this shakes.
Hope this tip confirms the fault.

When kneeding dough by the time the last of the flour is added the mixer does not have enough power to kneed it. A year ago it did but has gradually lost power. I have taken the gear head apart and...

HI KEN9486, from the way you describe your mixer’s malaise, the apparent lack of power during the dough mixing process does not appear to be to be a mechanical issue, but electrically induced. You’ve already put your fingers on the culprit – the brushes! Anytime your mixer’s brushes have been worn down as much as you indicated, they should be replaced.
Be sure you have the Parts List manual on hand to order the correct brushes. If you're lacking one, you can download a PDF version from the KA website: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number, in your case use KSM50P (Your K5SS mixer falls within this manual), and select the first file KSM50P.pdf (438.31 KB) listed under Parts List (4) but check to verify this matches your mixer model.
On Pages 6 and 7, you will find the brush & spring assembly (Illus. No. 29) and Part No. 9706416 that you need to order. Replace them both.
Here are five potential online vendors in no particular order: RepairClinic.com; mendingshed.com; searspartsdirect.com; partstore.com; and Grainger.com (for grease). Prices can vary widely between vendors, so do some comparison shopping.
I think you’ll find new ‘life’ in your mixer after you’ve replaced the brushes and it should be able to handle dough mixing without further problems. Good luck, I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA

Bowl cannot be removed from stand - stuck

Mine is stuck too and it's so annoying. I used terry cloth and hammer the bowl to knock the bowl down (1-2 times and not too hard). I think the bowl is up a bit and over locked when doing bread dough.
