Mitsubishi 1080 LP HDLP TV

Unit is shutting down for overheating. Message says to check for blocked air flow. No blockage found. If I knew where the heat sensor was I could probably troubleshoot it.

The TV picture cuts out but the sound stays on. The blue power light stays on also. I was told it could be the remote sensor in the TV.

My Pioneer PDP 4216HD does the same thing. If I change the channel up or down, it comes back on, or if I turn it off and then back on, it works fine. The signal strength is good and the problem iks intermittant.

I get a message that the air flow/fan is blocked, then the tv shuts down. It's not blocked. It's perfectly clean.

This indicates the TV is overheating. Lamp based TVs usually have two or even three fans. One may be having problems or not turning fast enough.

If the set is only 3 1/2 months old, you should still have warranty coverage. Opening up the unit will void the warranty, so don't open up the set. Call for warranty service. In all probability, the air flow sensor is defective. The message you are seeing is a result of the air flow not being detected or not sufficient. In any case, this is a covered problem and should cost you nothing to fix.

most rear projectors will turn themselves off whenever the lamp is dead. what we call protective mode. in this case the yellow light may be for the lamp. otherwise check if all the fan are working properly.
But MAKE SURE you let sufficient time for the tv to cool off before unplugging the main.

hope this helps

Mitsubushi 1080 HDTV has an air flow block

There is a fan in the back. Make sure that the fan is spinning and that the grille is clean. It is possible that the sensor is bad too.

. Set shuts off after displaying the message "TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked." After shutdown, it may have a yellow status LED, self diagnostics indicates error code 38. To repair, replace the Lamp Thermal Sensor with the new version, part # 299P313010A. The sensor is located on the Lamp Cartridge Housing. See Service Tip VS-72B. Under rare circumstances, when a replacement thermal sensor is not available, refer to the original Service Tip, VS-72 (page 2 and 3 of VS-72B) If error 3-4 then this maybe problem:. Check to see if the lamp is on when the unit is off (in standby) if it is components on the Power PWB... K9A20 and/or K9A21 are shorted. Also, R9A02 may be open.
