Mitsubishi 1080 LP HDLP TV

Unit is shutting down for overheating. Message says to check for blocked air flow. No blockage found. If I knew where the heat sensor was I could probably troubleshoot it.

The TV picture cuts out but the sound stays on. The blue power light stays on also. I was told it could be the remote sensor in the TV.

My Pioneer PDP 4216HD does the same thing. If I change the channel up or down, it comes back on, or if I turn it off and then back on, it works fine. The signal strength is good and the problem iks intermittant.

It sounds like an overheating issue with the T-con board. You shouldn't have to run a house fan behind the TV to keep the screen on. Make sure you have the TV in a place where there is enough space around it to allow for air flow. Also, check to make sure the ventilation slots on the back of the TV are not blocked with dust.

Is the back of the T.V. unusually warm/hot? If it is your T.V. may be overheating. If it's not in an open area, move it to an open area to allow more air flow. If it is try directing a fan at it. If one of those helps then your T.V. might be overheating and you may need to replace the cooling fan in it.

The tv will just shut off and we cannot turn it back ubtil we shut off the main power switch and let it sit for 1/2 hour

This could be caused by poor ventilation on the unit. The back of TV sets where the air vents are usually located are meant to be easily accessible to air. When they do not have enough air then the Tv tends to shut itself down due to overheating when it geths too hot.
Try relocating the TV position to an airy environment.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

T.V. is giving a message that it will shut down after a few seconds and to check the air flow?

Possibly the fan to the cooling light has failed. needs a callout tech before it overheats and causes more problems

there is something overheating in your tv...
the causes of this might be the vents are being blocked, maybe they have too much dust or there is a tshirt or a towel on your TV.

there could be some resistance, fuse, or transistor overheating making it to shut down to prevent a massive burn out briking your TV

if its a PC.. in wich im not sure if its a tv or a PC.. but if its a PC, its that the CPU isnt getting enough vent.. so replacing the thermal past from the CPU and heatsink will make the temperature go down, also, try checking if the small ventilators are working correctly.. if the dont, change them all.

to make cheap fast repair.. get an air conditioner or a huge ventilator and make the thing get some air
