I have a an AC418 fan not working

The light on the remote is a battery light. First mistake was buying a store brand fan which are mostly low-end parts. Try adding a different remote w/receiver.

A switch is just a break between the power source and the fan, so leave the dimmer on high and use the remote to operate the fan.

you can just go to lowes or home depot they carry them there easy to put in just use two people to place it up works a lot better dont forget turn power off first, good luck

mcdevito75 here, The RED wire in almost all electrical applications is the power wire, main sorce of or too electricity.

These Home Depot fans all have remote problems, either live with it or trash it.

Your issue is most likely a faulty speed control, which presumably was destroyed by a power surge. The part is integral to the remote receiver in the fan housing. You can purchase spare parts for this fan through Home Depot (Hampton Bay) Service at 800-654-0688.

Unfortunately the Brookdale fans with a Rhine 7058 series controller have a separate circuit wire for each speed. Rewiring this to use a conventional fan receiver that uses a single wire to control each speed is not easily achieved. Your best bet is to order a new remote receiver of the proper type.

the light switch is bad its allowing a small percentage of volts to pass by the connection.

In some cases the fan will keep running to remove all the heat from the heat exchanger.It can be set to run shorter or longer.You might check that out.
