Leaking water line

The water line is leaking from the top of the refrigerator where the water goes into the ice maker (black hose). It spurts out when the water is refilling the ice tray. When it is not refilling, it does not leak

The icemaker is at the front, but the bucket is right under the maker--not in the door. It's a GE Artica side by side, probably purchase around 2000.

I will try your suggestions. I have not tried to pull the water line from the back connection, but will try. It almost seems that it is not on tight, but a blockage is another possiblity.

We asked our heating and air repairman - He thinks too much water is being dispensed when the tray is filled but didn't know how to adjust that..... Does anyone know? Or where are you saying to look for blockage?

Should have a small metel clamp there if not you can get a small clamp about any where and the fill tube being partialy frozen can be an issue the easiest way ive found to deal with this is to get a eureka 301 hand held enviro steamer its a little investment but there are about 1000 outher uses for it around the house and it wont hurt the fridge just let it heat stick the tip in the in the ice maker fill tube where the water line goes and pull the trigger till steam comes out the other end bingo does windows sinks stoves etc.thaws evaprators clears frozen drains seal door gaskets without melting them getting this master tech http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Eureka-350-Hot-Shot-Enviro-Steamer/371207/product.html?fp=F&kid=4087&cid=52417

There are 2 reasons for the water over flow during fill cycle of ice maker and is problematic more so with side by side refridgerators. the fill tube has some ice formed at the end of the fill tube and it it should not.
the defrost heater is located near the bottom of the freezer section, the heat rising upward defrosts or melts the ice from the coils, air flow is very important, keep in mind that the defrost timer could be malfuctioning making the defrost time to short or a degraded condition with the heater coil not getting hot enough can be an issue, however if the problem is very random only occurring say once a month or two, then most likely air flow is the problem you have either to much food in the freezer, frozen food in boxes, plastic bags and containers are blocking the air flow during the defrost cycle,
for some reason a fan to aid in moving the heated air is not part of the design in almost all cases

rearranging the food placement such that it allows spacing between each product,
removing plastic bags and paper and cardbaord boxes that are not necessary
try to reduce the amount of food products kept in there, if it is necessary to purchase large quanties of frozen foods then get an additional freezer just for that purpose
thank you

It may have a partial iced up take a hair dryer and run some heat on it or try a small screwdriver and see if it will go in ok to make sure there is no blockage..Let me know what you find

Lg French door inside ice maker stops working but water flows out the back of the fridge where the water line gores in. Water line is fine and just had a new ice maker put in but it still does not produce...

Sounds like you have to have a leak in the water line somewhere. The water line goes to the top hinge in the door, so the water has to come from somewhere below that point or it would be collecting inside the door and leak out the front. A leak would prevent water from getting to the ice maker, or a leak at the valve could have this effect as well. Check the water valve that gets a call to send water to the ice maker.

The water dispenser in my refrigerator ice maker is leaking

if you have recently changed your filter, had the water turned off, or disconnected from the ref this is a common problem. you have air in your water line. fill 5-6 large cups of water or until it stops spurting and your drip should go away

If there was water in the water line it could have split. Check on the back where the water line goes from the inlet valve to the ice maker.

Here is a link to common ice maker problems. Chances are you have a pin hole in the water line. It may also be a leaky water valve which is on that link. also check for a broken ice mold. Best of luck.

Water is leaking under the refrigerator. This is

If everything else on the refrigerator seems fine (freezing and refrigerating are fine), then you probably have a problem with the drain hose under the evaporator coil. On frost free freezers, there is a heater that comes on periodically to melt off all the frost on the evaporator coil, and that defrosted frost (water) goes out a drain hose and collects in a pan at the back of the unit where it can evaporate.

Either the drain is clogged with ice inside the freezer, (in which case you might notice ice building up on the bottom of the freezer, or perhaps water collecting on the bottom of the refrigerator if your freezer is on top) OR there is something wrong with the pan at the back of the refrigerator, like a crack, or it somehow got tilted so that the water pours out. It is located behind the panel on the back.

Or perhaps, and this would really ****, the water line that supplies your ice maker is leaking, if you have one. If you do have one, I would recommend turning the water line to the fridge off before pulling the fridge out.

Water leak where hose meets refrigerator connector

I had a similar problem several years ago with water leaking on the floor at behind the fridge. Turned out to be the gasket at a connection the same size as a garden hose at the water valve, so I used a garden hose washer and that did the trick. That was on a Whirlpool vintage about 1990. Can't say what the model was.
