SANYO Model CLT2054 Television

My television was on and playing fine, I turned away to do something and when I looked back the screen was blank, but there was still sound. My daughter and I could find no reason for the change, the cords were all still properly plugged in, the cable attached, the outlet for the television apparently working. We turned off the television for several hours, then tried it again. There was a very dark picture, and sound. I turned the television off for the night. Today it will not turn on. I disconnected the Playstation that was attached, no change. I disconnected the power cord and reattached it. No change. I plugged it into another outlet that I know to be working, but still no power. I do not know what else to try. no picture sound ok. pluged another tv in the same coax conection second tv works fine. pluged in dvd to clt2054 no picture but sound ok serial number b624101059831

Sounds a lot like you lost the video driver or control board functionality. From the 'decay' of your image, with sound still working, and all else being good, you're primed for a new video controller. Are you inclined to do the repair yourself? The service manuals are hard to get online, but the local service center MIGHT sell you one.

Check the power supply for fuse, loose connections, etc. What happen when the power went out and came back on, you will usually get higher voltage when it comes back on, you will notice that the light bulb gets very bright when the power comes back on.

I have a sanyo clt2054 and when the tv is turned on the sound is good and the picture is dim. after 2 or 3 minutes there is no picture only sound. what could this be?

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Check the power supply for 12 volts dc, it must provide at minimum 3 amps of power to trigger the on circuit. If not, replace the adapter... if you need one, please contact me.
