Water building up on the floor inside the frig and then leaking out onto the kitchen floor. I can't see where it is coming from. I assume from the defrost function of the freezer. But were is the water suppose to go?

You have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over

You need to be a LITTLE more descriptive...

Pretend we are not FREE VOLUNTEERS... and you
value our time and assistance (PRETTY Please).

There are several reasons WATER will intrude...

but it is critically IMPORTANT to know if it is the
REFRIGERATOR or FREEZER side.... (???).

ARE freezing temperatures being maintained??

Are your doors fully closed...???

- Pizza box hold your door AJAR..?
- Contents blocking internal AIR vents...??
(have a look: unscrew situation (see OWNERS Manual)

Doors out of alignment...?? (ditto).

If your temperatures are stable & acceptable...
The ICE-MAKER chute could be BLOCKED OPEN
with a chip or STUCK CUBE: this will allow WARM AIR to melt your cubes... causing water to dribble (and cubes to
cause even GREATER ISSUES).

Any AIR INTRUSION in the FREEZER area will
cause HEAVY FROSTto form...

This caused both blocked AIR-FLOW and massive
water discharge (during DEFROST CYCLE).

Simple inspection and clearing of ice-chute OR door
BLOCKAGE will set things right again...

Try SHARING a bit more information about your
symptoms... (PRETTY PLEASE).

Refrigerator not cooling

The self defrosting mechanism is fubar. Check out the defrost timer and defrost element for proper operation. Chances are that the element is open.

My Roper refrigerator has water inside it at the bottom and on lower level shelves. How can I correct this?

Hello,

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain through then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center

Good luck

I hope this helps

I get water (alot) on shelves inside the frig. I looked at drip pan underneath and it is dry. Checked vents inside frig and they are not blocked.

Sounds like the water drain for the freezer defrost is clogged. You will need to remove the back panel inside the freezer and check it. Sometimes it's just a piece of paper, or other wrapping that gets into it. Always UNPLUG the refrigerator first.

the middle insulation hasbecome water logged, forma faulty defrost tube, so, every time trhe unit defrost, 2 maybe 3 times a day it will spill water inti the vents, andin to the refrig, the only correct way to fix is to have the enitre center drain block replaced, part not that expensive but labor to install may be, ohter then nussincence, not really affecting machines workings

Hotpoint frige/freezer ff178e. water collects inside bottom of freezer

i assume temperatures ok in which case the water will turn to ice.
problem is a blocked drain, probably with ice. remove the rear panel inside the freezer and clear the drain with hot water till it flows away freely. takes a little patience. if there is excessive build-up of ice on the pipework, then you have a problem with the defrost system

Refrigerator condensation

I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 70262990. When I get wet shelves (water, not just condensation), I was able to trace my source to the cold air vent from the freezer. In my case, the water melts from the evaporator and collects in the rear lower section of the freezer. It is "supposed" to go down the drain tube. However I had the drain hole freeze over. Then additional water from the defrost cycle would accumulate in the freezer floor (under the plastic floor) and eventually find its way down the cold air vent between the freezer and refrigerator section. You'll need to unplug the unit, take the plastic floor out of the freezer, remove the evaporator panel to access the defrost drain, melt the frozen water (hair drier works nice), and remove all the water (towel/sponge & bucket). Make sure the drain is not frozen and not blocked. Then put it back together and plug it in.

Does anyone know how to stop the drain tube from freezing over?

Good luck.
