A few weeks ago I noticed there was a pool of water in my passenger carpet in the front. I put on the heating and dried it with towels etc till it was dry. Then the wet patch came back a few days later. I pulled up the carpet and the foam underneath was sodden. It won't seem to dry out despite running the heating every time I go out in it. Its just in the passenger side at the front and the wetness stops as you get to the passenger seat. Its clear liquid and has no smell.I have a ford fiesta Ghia (1997)but could not find it on list which is why I have written ford focus
If the filter has been changed recently, during a service, or the cover (clips) damaged, the rain water can pour in to the passenger foot well.
Worth a look.Check the pollen filter cover under the bonnet. If the filter has been changed recently, during a service, or the cover (clips) damaged, the rain water can pour in to the passenger foot well.
Worth a look.

If you have a/c it probably is caused by the drain plugged. The drain comes out off of the engine side of the firewall in front of the passenger area and just above the floorboard. If plugged, it allows the heater core box to fill with water as rain & such occurs until such time as it leaks through the various openings. You can stick a "zip strip" bag tie type drain cleaner up the drain to open it up if that's the case.
If you don't have a/c then you'll have to see if the windshield or surrounding area is leaking. You'll need to dry it out again & use a garden hose to slowly trickle water over the windshield & areas over & around where you are finding water until you identify the area leaking. Hope that one of these 2 helps you. Good Luck.
The water drain for the ac system is clogged.
the inside coil gets cold and water drips off of it and needs to drain to the outside.
there should be a drain spout on the outside of the fire wall.
this small drain needs to be cleared.
let me know if this helps
thank you

Most difficult is to remove the damp components, seats and carpet and put them where they can dry out.
If you have access to a good shop vacuum you can draw out most of the water from the seats and carpet and then use a small space heater inside the vehicle. You have to be careful and you want to control the heat but I've done this recently with excellent results. Just don't let your car get too hot and leave a window partially cracked to let the moisture out of the car. I did remove the passenger seat and raise the carpet off of the floor where it was damp to let the heat dry it out underneath, it took a few days since it was cold outside.
Most importantly, find the leak and fix it, until then keep the car covered.
Most likely, you have a buildup of leaves and debris in the rain drainage system, under the hood at the firewall. This let's water backup into the fresh air intake..
I had this same problem on a '92. Get the carpet out even if you have to cut it out and dry the car with a space heater or blow dryer. Cover with a canvas to keep water out. Get under the car and look for holes in the floor or firewall allowing rainwater in. You may need to do as I did and remove the hood, left front fender, wipers, and louvered wiper panel, to look for holes. Use a garden hose to find leak. I found 3 rust holes in the firewall, using a strong flashlight and mirror to see hidden areas. I patched with metal patches, silicone, and roofing tar.
Sounds like a major weather stripping issue, being an 09 I would hope something like that would be covered under warranty. Mold is no joke, it can make you very sick
I think that I can help you. It sounds like your drain-tube is plugged up. Get in the passenger side, and pull the carpet back from under the glove box. Look for a black rubber pipe that goes from a black box, and pokes thru the firewall, on the passenger side. Remove the hose from the box, and have a container ready to catch water. If water comes out of the black box, your drain hose is plugged up. Clean out the clog, and you will be golden.
Water on the floor indicates a heater core leak. You may also find a mist coming from the inside of the car when you run the heat and or AC. If this is the case, have your heater core checked out. Best of luck.

Hi, we also have a 2002 Toyota Rav4 and developed a leak in the front driver's side of the car. After much research, we discovered that the drain wells from our sun/moon roof were clogged. If you have one of these, I suggest that you open the sun roof and look carefully. You will notice some tiny little holes in front and in the rear of the sun/moon roof tracks. Over time, these become clogged with dust and debris. You need to find a long, sturdy piece of thin wire and run it down the holes. To test if you have properly unclogged these, take a small amount of water and pour it down the holes. You should see water coming out of the drain wells under the car around the rear of the front tires. Hope this helps.
I turned on the fan inside and closed everything up, went outside and poured soapy water around everywhere. I found bubbles at the mirrors and and the top of the windshield. Also a "Tech" told me that under the door rubber at the driver and passenger sides there is a piece of tape that is supposed to cover two assembly holes on either side but doesn't, so I caulked it and solved the leak that comes out the map lights. I also found that there was a crack in the sealer along the firewall to passenger inside fender allowing water to collect int the wiring channel causing the dreaded "lock" problem, which I had fixed by the dealer but they didn't fix the leak. The dealers and "Jet-set Execs"are the reason GM is hurting as their vans are OK. The fix was spraying RV Roof\Gutter sealant from the front after removing the wiper cover and spraying waaay in. Now I need to fix the one on the front that comes in above the passengers left foot and makes a spiders haven behind the centre cowl. Jim
It sounds like a plugged drain line from the air conditioner. Most cars now run in the a/c mode whenever u turn on the climate control (even when heat is on). The passenger side front is where it would be wet, and the carpet and carpet pad act like a sponge and will soak up the water. Let me know how u make out.
