Ok.. get some earphones, nice simple walkman dollar store earphones. Put a cd in the cd tray or play an mp3.. look in the back of the pc for a green jack.. try it, try them all. Then look on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, any little speaker icon? open it, set the volume? No speaker icon? control panel, sound, make sure there is a sound card listed.
Work backwards logically with known working equipment.

How do I turn up volume on HP computer?

If I understand correctly, you had a tech assisting you earlier and he turned off the sound and now you want to turn it back on - is that right?
Check in the lower right corner of your monitor for the speaker icon. If you see a red circle with a line over the speaker it means the tech just muted the sound. Click on the Speaker icon and open the volume control - you will be see the Mute option and just click on it.

If it is more, and I misunderstood your initial description, please respond with the model of your computer, the operating system and what the tech was called in for in the first place.

I can't seed to get my speakers to work. I have UBL pro speakers.

1. Check the Audio icon on the task bar if muted. If yes Unmute Go to start > control panel > sound. and make sure that nothing is muted.

2. Sound Diagnosis refer this photo

3. Re install the audio drivers. LINK
4. If steps 1-3 don't work, then take your speaker to your friend's computer and see if it works there? if yes then something is wrong in your computer system, if no, then something is wrong in those devices.
Refer to this image below. From your speaker the 3.5mm jack should be plugged at back of I/O ports LINE OUT.

Just to make sure desktops almost never have built in speakers.
1. Check that your speakers work. Try them with an MP3 player or other device to make sure they work.
2. Check that the speaker is plugged in the right socket. Play something on computer and switch around the plug.
3. In windows press START->Control Panel->System->Device manager.
Right click on Sound device and write down the make (Company and a model number).
4a. Google their website and go to support->downloads/drivers and download the appropriate driver.
4b. If its an INTEL sound device you might have to look up the motherboard as it might be bundled with the motherboard driver.

My sound is not working

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
hope this helps

The speakers on my computer are not working. When I look under properties, it tells me there are no speakers. I tried unplugging and replugging the wires. I know the speakers work, just not on my...

Hi GB
You need to check and see if your audio device is working. That's what will determine whether your speakers will work or not.
So,go to Start-Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device Manager (In Windows systems up to XP)
In Vista or 7,go to Start-Control Panel-Device Manager
Then look down to the Multimedia or Sound,Video and Game controllers category, name depending on Windows version.
Is there a yellow triangle or red x on the category anywhere? If there's a yellow triangle right click on that and select enable. And try your speakers to see if they're working now.
If there's a red x,your audio controller isn't working and Windows is almost definately asking for drivers.Double click the device and see what the next window tells you. If it needs drivers you can tell Windows to automatically install them, and to let Windows connect to the internet to look for them.
If you do have a driver problem and that doesn't work for you, look on the back or sides of your case, possibly even the bottom, for a sticker called the Service Tag.
Please post back with that code, your version of Windows and your exact model number,in case there were any additional letters or numbers, and I'll try and lead you to the drivers to download.
If this helps you out, would you rate my post please?
I'll be here

I can't heard no music why?

Several possibilities come to mind: speakers have failed (self-powered speakers have bad power brick, cable damaged, etc), speakers plugged into the wrong port (audio in instead of audio out), audio card or driver has failed.

If you recently had to restore your OS (or do a roll-back to a "known" good configuration), check your audio device (make and model) and make sure you have the latest driver installed. (Look at the website for your computer if it is a prebuilt system or look up your motherboard if it is an on-board audio device.) The device manager might have a yellow exclamation mark on the audio device if this is the issue (access from the Windows Control Panel)

Check for bad speakers by trying another set of speakers or plugging them into another computer. (Swap cables if that is possible.)

I hope this helps.

I have a gateway gt5056 with no sound. tried other speakers, not the problem. How do i check/replace the sound board?

well take off the side panel of the tower you know the card you plug your speakers into? well there is 1 philips screw that holds it in place remove the screw and then gently rock the card back and forth while trying to lift it out now take the new card line it up and push downward it should seat itself all the way down then put the screw back where it came from and put back the wires for the speakers hope this helps if ya have any questions feel free to ask
