Can't get water to spray out of the hand tool nozzle

The actual unit is working properly as we just finished cleaning all our carpets sucessfully. Now we want to do the stairs, and we can't spray water/soap out of the attachment. We do have suction working properly, but we can't dispense the water/soap.

Thank you. When trying the screwdriver while depressing the center of the valve idea, the water didn't spray out. It just dribbled. So, I think this is the root of the problem. Is this a part that can be fixed and/or replaced? Thanks again!!

Thank you so much! The machine was purchased new in 2004. I've replaced a few buckets/nozzles here and there for cracks, but for the most part this machine has running really well, and isn't used more then 4 or 5 times a year. I'll take it to a professional...thanks for the advice.

When you attach the main suction hose to the front of the machine, you also have to connect the soultion hose to a valve located on the side of the machine. When the machine is running, take a small screwdriver and depress the centre of this valve. You should get a spray of water out of the valve which will confirm the valve and pump is working. Now, connect the small solution hose, making sure you push it on all the way. When you pull the trigger on the handle of the hose, you should get spray. If it does not, you may have a plugged nozzle sprayer.

It sounds like there is a pump problem or perhaps the line to the valve is compromised. You don't say how old the machine is. The pump delivers solution to both the hose and the brushes on the front of the machine and when you are cleaning carpet, when you press the trigger in the machine handle, there is a solenoid that opens and allows the solution to spray onto the scrub brushes. I mention this because if the machine is working properly for the floor, then the pump is working and your problem is likely in the valve or the line leading to it. This machine is pretty complicated inside and I don't recommend any one who doesn't understand it to attempt a repair. You should consider taking it to a repair shop.

Tip

Bissel Carpet Cleaner Won't Dispense Water

"My Bissel carpet cleaner has little to no spray action".

This is a common problem and here are some Trouble Shooting solutions. If your machine is only dispensing a little bit of water, or none at all, then:

1. The bladder may be empty- Turn power off, remove tank and refill.

2. The lent screen may be clogged- Clean out the lent screen.

3. Tank-In-Tank may not be seated properly- Turn power off; remove tank and reseat tank.

4. The pump belt may be broken- If so, replace with a new one. The belt can usually be accessed through a belt access door on the top-side of your machine.

Here is a Link that will help in your search for the right belt:

Our Bissell 9200 carpet cleaner will not spray cleaning fluid through the tools nozzle. With the tool dial set to "floor" fluid comes out of the front nozzle. With the tool dial set to...

Assuming this is the pro heat version
Most likely you have some debris blocking the system. You need to follow the hand tool cleaning instructions.
remove the hand tool and manually wash it
select the tools cleaning option
place the tube in a bowl of clean water and allow it to **** the water up - this should clean out any blockages in the pipe.

Have a Bissell Proheat2 will not spray water from the carpet power head but sprays from tools setting Does anyone know how to get water to spray or clean out water

I had this problem. It was small pieces of debris that got into the solution lines and clogged all the nozzles. There is a nozzle for the handheld attachments, one on the front of the machine for spraying spots and two nozzles underneath just behind the rotating brushes.

It was a royal pain disconnecting the clear rubber hoses inside the machine and blowing out the nozzles and the hoses with compressed air. If you are mechanically challenged I'd suggest you take the machine to a vacuum/steam cleaner repair facility.

I'm not sure how the debris got into the solution system, but it may have been when the dirty water tank was emptied some of the dirty water entered the internal, clean water bladder.

A note to Bissell engineers: This issue can be prevented if you simply add an easily accessable solution and/or water filter that the customers can remove, clean and reinstall. Just a suggestion.

Bissell proheat 7 will not spray water or cleaner

Thanks to many others who have posted on similar problems -- water and/or solution sprays through the handheld tools, but not through the main machine.

As others have suggested, I removed the water reservoir, which exposes the 2 main water sprays mounted above the rollers. Using, pliers, I carefully slid the clips back. Gently but firmly removed the two red nozzles.

Elsewhere I have read suggestions to just do one nozzle at a time. However, I found out that if you remove both red nozzles, you can then blow through one side and it will come out the other. In my case, that dislodged a nice collection of crystal-like chunks (guessing it may be crystallized residue from the cleaning solution).

There was also a bit of blockage in one of the red nozzles, which I cleaned out. Make sure you can blow through both of them with little resistance.

Reassemble: Push red nozzles back into hoses. Using pliers, reposition sprung clip back over the red nozzle. Snap nozzles back into place. Refill tanks and power it up.

In my case, that resolved the problem of no sprays from the main machine. Sprays like new now. Hope yours does too!! g

p.s. Make sure you do give it about a minute after you turn it on before you try spraying. If the pump is not allowed sufficient time to prime, you may not get proper flow.

Soap from dispenser will not release into carpet cleaner.

These are two different problems the first could be a clogged heater soap coagulates in the heater passages and clogs the flow of water to see if this is indeed the problem turn the unit on and try and spray water with the top trigger (floor nozzle) then try to spray at the hand nozzle if you get water at the hand nozzle but not the floor nozzle it is the heater. The hand nozzle water bypasses the heater. Also check the solution or soap tank if you pull it out and there is not red seal on the bottom it may be stuck in the machine and won't create a good seal check to see if it is still in the hole where the tank inserts. As for the unit not turning on that could be a number of issues cord, switch or just over heated. Visit www.stevessewandvac.com for any parts or questions about this machine or any other.

If water is spraying from the tool hose, then check the heater for a blockage. If the heater port is blocked, then the water can't flow back down to the spray nozzles, which could also be clogged. Most likely a clogged heater, it is in the handle.
