Question about Hoover U5753-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Doesn't seem to pick up little articles anymore

Worked fine for the first little bit, I've cleaned it out regularly, is the wind tunnel filter supposed to be spinning ? If so, it's not anymore! Could this be the problem?

You have to turn the filter, there is a knob on the tank lid that you turn to help clean the filter. If the filter looks pretty clogged, then it needs to be replaced, or cleaned if it is one of the washable ones. You could have a clog in the hose, or down below where the brush roll is the inlet where the dirt first comes in. Is the brush turning? You may need to replace the belt and/or brushroll. Down in the noozle asm, there also is a vale that will open and close depending on the handle position, it may not be working so it seems like no suction when you do the floor.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. This machine should have no problem dealing with animal hair, so if it doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, this may be due to a blockage. The easiest way to check for this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=954&product=DC17-ANIMAL

Although I note you've already cleaned the filter, you may want to take a look at the video below to make sure you've washed it as recommended - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you're still concerned about your machine, please call us free on 1-866-693-9766 - or if you email your details to askdysonUS@dyson.com, someone will be in touch as soon as possible to provide assistance.

Best wishes,

My dyson has, against all it's proclamations, lost suction. I clean the filter regularly (wash it out, etc) - I replaced the hose (it had a hold in it). Any thoughts?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC24. If it doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, and you've already washed the filters, it's likely that there's a blockage somewhere in the cleaner. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1120&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

You might also want to take a look at the video below to confirm you're washing the filters correctly. Under normal use, it's important to wash both filters at least once every month. Use cold water without any detergents, and ensure the filters are totally dry before replacing them - this may take up to 24 hours.

Hopefully, by clearing any obstructions and washing the filters, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action.

Kind regards,

Hi My Hoover wind tunnel cyclonic stopped working when i was using it. I tried different plug even then it doesnt work . What to do??

If the motor stopped running, it most likely did because it was not being cooled, becuause something was stopping up the air flow. If you have cleaned the secondary filter out and it still stops while running, then remove the exhaust filter cartridge and try it then. If it does not stop running now, then the problem is the previous models like this had a foam filter as the exhaust filter, not a heppa cartridge filter. You will not hurt the machine by running it without the heppa cartridge. Cut a foam filter to fit to replace it. I do not think Hoover knows this yet.

I have a customer working on this problem today (Sept 2010) I have repaired machines for 30 years. This filter is meant to just catch the tiny particles from getting back into the air. However, it worked fine on the previous machines with the foam filter here instead of this Heppa cartridge.

I have a Hoover Wind Tunnel Self propelled 12amp. There seems to be very little suction. I have cleaned the hoses and filters but still not much suction. any ideas? thanks.

Make sure all filters are cleaned out and entry ways are clear of all debris. Remove hose and check for blockage. Usually the low suction can be remedied when all filters are cleaned. Hope this works for you.

We've changed the bag and we are still not getting good pick up. It seems to leave small paritcles and bits of fuzz.

Did you change the belt? If the belt is worn or stretched it won't pick up well. You can get replacement belts here:

No suction on Hoover Wind Tunnel.

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

First this is a common problem on ALL bagless vacuum cleaners. Usually it takes longer then 1 day however.

Is there no suction in the suction hose, or is it not suctioning from the floor?

Most people buy a bagless vacuum once, then return to a bagged one after their bad experience, you are not alone!

Please give me the model number to your Hoover, (found on the bottom or the back of the vacuum on a foil label).

Thanks,

Hoover wind tunnel

A clog or partial clog is what causes the motor to overheat, then a thermo protector will cut off and the motor will stop until it cools down. So either you do have a clog, in the hose or down by the brush roll. If they are clear, and the filters are clean, then maybe the thermo protector is bad and needs to be replaced.

Hoover doesn't suck well

Did you check the inlet from the bottom? Take the bottom plate off, make sure that the tube(inlet)is free of any clogs. Also if the belt is stretched, then it won't drive the brush roll like it should, replace it part #38528033.
