Question about Nikon Coolpix S51c Digital Camera

'This card cannot be used' error msg

The wrong memory card was inserted in the camera (it was a smaller one). It went in and came out easily, but now the camera will not recognize the correct memory card. When the camera is turned on, the error msg 'this card cannot be used' comes up on the screen. We've tried other (correct) memory cards and get the same msg. Anything we can do to fix this? thank you! Susan

If the correct memory is compact flash, many small fragile pins are in the socket.

If one or more of these pins was bent by the incorrect module,
then the correct memory cannot work again until the pin/pins
have been repaired.

Alternate soluton:
You might try removing all the batteries from the camera and
letting it sit for long enough to clear any temporary memory.

Don't forget any small button cell that might back up temporary
memory.

If the connectors are not damaged, the camera might be reset on a cold start up.

All of a sudden I'm getting a msg saying the card has the wrong format, & when I try to format it, it says it can't....

This is probably due to a bad memory card-- try using a different memory card. If you have the same problem with a different memory card, then the issue is with the camera itself. This would probably not be something that is easily fixed by a camera repair shop, as they would end up replacing the faulty component entirely, whether it be the camera, or the card.
Best case scenario, it's a bad memory card.

Is it an SDHC card? SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Camera still reads full and will not work when new memery card installed

I had the same problem. Your memory card likely has too much memory. I put in a 4G card and it would not take a photo. Every time the camera went off it said "Error - Card Full".
You have 2 options.
1.) You can remove the memory card and use the internal memory to take photos (it will only hold 20 pics) and transfer them onto the memory card by shutting the camera off, inserting the card, turning the camera on, wait for the menu to clear and then shutting the camera off again and removing the card. This does work, but you are limited in the number and quality of photos that you will get.
2.) Get a smaller capacity memory card. I went out and bought a 2G card. Funny thing is that the camera wouldn't even recognize it at first. When I turned the camera on a message saying "Please wait" kept flashing on the screen. I waited 10 minutes and just shut it off and pulled the card again. I took the card home and formatted it on my PC. When I put it in the camera the next time it worked fine. So to save you some trouble, buy a smaller card and FORMAT it on your computer before trying it in the camera. It will save you a headache. After all of that BS I finally got the stupid thing to work. It takes beautiful pics but I will not be buying another Cuddeback. My next trail cam will be a different brand for sure. Not worth the hassle IMO.

Memory card Sandisk 4GB gives error memory card

The S50 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card, and will not work in the S50. You will have to confine your choices to cards 2GB and smaller.

Error message: Reinsert the Memory Stick"

The problem is with the memory card. It probably just shorted internally and is no longer useful. The amount of memory is not the problem, as I used a 4GB card for a long time and my card finally went bad. You will just have to get another memory card and MAYBE find someone to be able to retrieve your data.

When 4 gig. sd hc memory card is loaded into camera CARD IS IN ERROR msg. appears on lcd screen. Any ideas???

The A10 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work with the A10. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Error message on lcd "card not intialized"

To Funkee Monk

The problem may be due to the size of the cards you are using. The manual for this model only mentions cards up to 512mb in card size as compatible ones. On the Fujifilm's website there is a compatiability chart which does state that the camera can accept up to 2 GB but that some cameras might have to have a firmware upgrade to do so (there is a list of serial numbers at the bottom of the chart to check your camera against.
The link for this is......

Hopefully this will help (& not barking up the wrong tree!)
