Check the source cable is ok, replace with another if possible.
Also make sure the source is not putting out a standard the HTS does not understand (ie DTS or PCM).

My kenwood ud90 has low out putt on the front speekers

hi ,

your front speakers may have a different OHMS than the back and will required more volume to level up to the back ones .
Check that the level output for each channels are to the desire level .

When i watch dvds, the background noise is loud

Go to your set up menu, navigate to speaker set up and check your sound levels to front, center, and rear channels. Adjust as needed to fit the room. My Sony has a test tone option which sends a signal (at levels selected) to each speaker to check sound level and if speaker is connected and in right place.

DVD's won't play

I have a somewhat similar problem, but wasn't after a cleaning disk use. Most of the time when I try to use this system now, after I put a DVD in, I start getting a loud buzzing noise (almost as if gears are meshing)

No sound from a sony stereo receiver.

Hi there

Have you checked that the speaker on/off switches have not been bumped also. They are often at the left hand end of the amp next to the power switch and easy to turn on. A Tape monitor switch engaged will also give you those symptoms. Check them out and get back to me here if you cant find the problem

Graeme
