Have you tried unplugging the set for several minutes and then plugging it back in?

There is a separate circuit in the TV that turns the set on & off with either the front panel button or remote. The front power button does not switch the 110V directly.

The circuit could be either be a relay or solid state switch that turns on the main power supply.

It sounds like you have a problem with that circuit and you'll need to take the set in to be serviced.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

- Jim

Philips digital tv won’t turn on.

unplug from electric, wait 30 seconds, plug back in. Check that you have power at the outlet (fuse/breaker shut off?) If it has a power word which plugs into the TV as well as the wall, be SURE it is tightly attached to BOTH. Make sure you aren't blocking the remote control receiver (you can turn most TVs on/off on the TV itself -- look for a power button). Be sure your remote has fresh batteries. Good luck!

Tv shutting off wont let me delete parental code, i dont know what it is

You can reset the parental pass-code.
Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works:

1. Hold down MENU on the remote and VOLUME DOWN on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked

2. Hold down the 0 on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN buttons on the TV its self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked

3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds.

4. Hold down GO BACK on the remote and MENU on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.

5. Hold down EJECT on the front of the TV and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

When we push the power button on the remote or on the tv the green light comes on for one second and then shuts off ... tv won't turn on

you have a short circuit in the power supply.
1) test the power cord very well
2) test the main swithc for short or open
3)test the power supply, look for a short in transformer+coil+filter+diode+rectifier. and replace
4)test the HVRECT+fLYBACK+ horizontal output for +125Vdc +vertical output for +80Vdc ALL this go to the CRT
color +12vdc+other circuit +12vdc. The first thing do you will have is RASTER, see the block. d

Remote was hit, shut set off, and can't get it back on. Sounds like timer is on.

First try turning the TV on from the Power button the set itself (assuming it has one).

If not, unplug the TV from the wall, wait a half hour, then plug it back in. It should come back on.

Also check that none of the buttons on the remote are stuck down, and that the batteries in the remote are OK. The toy might've stuck a repeating button down (like volume) which may have then drained the remote's batteries.

TV won' turn on

Solder, solder, solder! Shut down circuits protect crts to avoid permanent damage. If any of the deflection circuits are defective, or intermittent, shut down occurs. I have not only seen bad solder on deflection circuits, especially vertical, but also intermittent connections on the yokes themselves. I've also seen shorted convergence ics cause shut down. Don't forget solder connections in the power supply.
