This could be a hit or miss but what does it hurt to try...
I had this problem with the color cartridge a while back. Worked tirelessly with HP support and somehow got it to work. Since it was on the phone and a while back, I fogot! Now is the time for the black cartridge. Same thing. Reading somewhere here about skipping the test I gave it a try and it worked.
- Unplug the printer for 1 minute (not sure if this is necessary but it doesn't hurt).
- Replug.
- When the "Press Enter to align..." message comes up, PRESS and HOLD Enter.
- While holding Enter, press Menu. The screen skips the test part and shows the date.
- Release Enter. Now you can print. Actually, I could print, you are on your own now.
It Does keep asking if it fails to get it right, usually it fails to get scan of alignment page completed correctly because it fails to see one of the colours printed on its alignment page correctly,
I would guess that you should change colour cartridge as well (these I have seen deplete themselves trying print black when black ink is not present.
There is also a way of telling your printer to forget about alignment would you like to know how......Press and hold the Setup button, and then press Options (or Copy Options ).
