Password for os, bios and hd

Hi. I got a virus that norton 'apparently' blocked (yeah right) and when i restarted it was asking for a password to login to windows i never made. I tried leaving it blank, using different passwords and starting on safe mode...nothing.
I was able to see the contents of the hd using a mobile disk. But i didnt save the contents...Stupidly, I made a bios and an hdd password so i can fix it later. I ended up getting alzheimers so i dont remember the passwords for the life of me. I remember only making the bios password, but i guess i made both. Probably is the same password for both. Is there anyway to crack an hdd password?

I tried the mobile disk to see the contents but 3 computers have not been able to read squat.

You have got a few deifferent problems.. The Bios and HD passwords are now stuck in there, and might be in forever. Your HD password probably set when you set the bios p/w. Unlike early laptops where you just had to short some pins, newer ones use an embedded chip much like in a sat tv box.. Very hard to get past.
The XP paaword is a joke, a good PE rescue disk - I like the Winternals line - will reset it in a jiffy. Other solutions for free online will read it, but are complex.
As for the bios and HD pw.. you have to look up that model and see if someone has come up with a "dongle" solution, or if the MFG has a backdoor for registered customers.
But you have a bigger problem.. you will need to keep a minute -to minute log while trying this, lest you forget and make matters worse. I advise finding help on this one. Good luck

Bios Admin Password reset

I would strongly recommend letting Dell do the Bios Admin Password reset, because if something goes wrong you are covered. If an outside party tries to reset the Bios and gives bad information it will cause an instant shutdown of the system making it impossible to restart the laptop.

Hi, I got a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10, Is there a way to remove Password?, i can not access to the O.S. (not even to the bios). Thanks

Yeah - if it's a BIOS password, but if it's a HDD password then you're screwed and there's nothing to do but replace the HDD.

For a BIOS password removal, either buy a parallel port password removal key, or make your own. Schematics can be found here: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd.

Hi,
You want to save your data with out Format all thepartition ,download hiren boot, from the bellow link.
http://www.hiren.info/bootcd-on-usb-disk

Now burn the ISO file, under image burning option, from nero ,in the another pc which is run's well. Restart pc, the cd will start soon, if the hiren boot cd ,willnot run, set bios setup. Now click herefor BIOS SETUP ,restart again and select miniwindows and delete system volume information and RECYCLER from all the partition or drives except "C"drive(Partition C:)
Because "systemvolume information" and "RECYCLER" is the Heart of Castle. If it not removethe virus ,download bootable f secure, click here And write the ISO under image burning option, from nero and boot from CD. Now you can scan for fix.
Insall clean OS, delete partition C: and create C same .

My aunt have inherited a laptop from her late husband, she said the time she uses it ( almost two years after the husbanded passed away) it never asked for a username or a password until when she took it...

You can remove or change the Windows User oradministrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access todownload the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot upthe laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CDwhich contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removalprogram. Click on one of these links todownload HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

Kid lost password how do you reboot without disk diver?

Hello,
This is a suggestion but may work. Try to get into the bios and edit the hdd password. I believe you either press DEL key when you power on the laptop or it might be F2, not quite sure. You will have to navigate in the bios to reach the set hard drive password section. Set to blank password and see if it allows you to boot.

Thanks,
Lolita

Dell Inspiron 6400, asking for HDD password

Insert OS cd in drive and start reinstalling by selecting repair mode now once all files are loaded system will reboot when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10
this will give you access to your account also you can reset all passwords
Now restart lappy and let the system boot normally without OS cd in drive
now you will come to old screen and previously configured desktop with all intact aplication and icons on desktop and it will no more ask you for password till you set a new one

Thanks and regards
