Disconnect all external peripherals conencted to the computer then retry to boot to safe mode. If no go, then try to get to the bios page, if you can go to bios, then you have no choice but toreinstall windows, if you cannot go to bios page, its a hardware problem.

My sisters Acer Aspire 5810TZ has a virus but when we go to log onto her laptop the screen goes black and wont let us do anything to try and get rid of the virus. What should we do.

Try booting into safe mode first. During boot up press F8 a few times, you should get a safe mode menu to; start windows normal, or safe mode, chose safe mode an see if that will get you logged in.

Aspire one notebook will not completely boot. It

While the system is booting --before the xp logo shows, hold down the F8 key. This will bring up a menu. Choose "start windows in safe mode with networking".
The os will start in safe mode. run a virus scan, defrag and scandisk, then restart the system. If is still wont boot normally, do the same thing then run a registry fixing program such as uniblue registrybooster, then reboot. If it still won't boot you may have to reinstall the OS. good luck.

I have an acer aspire one that is stuck on the start up screen showing acer empowering people and it wont go past that screen. iwas told it is a software issue. is there a simple fix for this?

Does it boot into safe mode (Tap F8 key on booting)

If so then a driver is responsible. Simply boot into safe mode and type msconfig into start / run.

Tick everything except antivirus / spyware program.Reboot and tick the box that pops up.

Toolbar will not show up after the laptop starts, no desktop icons, nothing, I can not even load anything on there. It'll start and you can log in, but thats as far as it will go.

Try booting up in safe mode, press F8, & see if you can boot to safe mode desktop.. If you can at least you can troubleshoot from there. Perhaps even a system restore could be performed if it boots in safe mode.

First try to start on safe mode.
to start on safe mode:
reboot your Pc
hold F8 while system starts
and when you are taken to safe mode
choose start with safe mode option
i may take you in to your desktop.
if it does not work then
you need can either do whole backup in to another external drive using ghost software or
just take off HDD and plug in to External hard drive reader (you can buy in market in cheap price) and plug in to another computer and copy your whole profile so you will have all data whatever you have on it.

Good luck.

Acer aspire

If it keeps booting in the safe mode, at the desktop it will say SAFE MODE in each corner of the screen.

If it does boot to the safe mode, click start, RUN, MSCONFIG click OK

Click the Boot.ini tab,. and see if the /SAFEBOOT option is checked.

If the screen doesn't say safe mode, then your video resolution is set too low, and adjusting Display properties and or reinstalling the video driver should resolve.
