Mobile phone problem

have got an old nokia phone for my son, using a pay as you go card. When you use it to phone someone the receiver cannot hear you, but you can hear them. There is the letter G constantly on my phone screen top lhs. I assume this is the problem but I cant remove it.

i cant receive incoming calls and i cant make calls i think my brother has done something to it
